Design ideas for a platform to lower camper onto...
I am going to build a simple platform for my camper to rest on to take stress off the jacks when I'm not using it for longer periods. Please share any ideas. I think I'm going with cinder blocks and qty2 @ 2x6 sandwiched for the frame. Spaced maybe every 6" or so. As I type this actually maybe it could be even more simple with a bunch of cinder blocks and thick plywood on top. Please share if you've build one. I'd love to see pictures if you have them. Oh man, some of you guys are funny as hell! I'll stick to my original common sense thought of keeping winterized, running the heater while sleeping, bottled water and call it good! I'm newer to truck camping so bear with me. I have a Palomino HS-8801, certainly not designed for winter camping but WHAT IF...I wanted to take it up to the ski resort for a night (or wherever). I'm assuming I'd keep it winterized and simply run the propane to stay warm for the night. Just bring my own fresh water...no toilet/plumbing/water use. Agree? Also, probably a stupid question but you would only turn on the heater when you are with the unit, you wouldn't want to keep it on low during the day. Okay, trouble in paradise. Brand spanking new camper and all of a sudden my water pump isn't working! I've only used it a couple times and it's been perfect. Do I have air in the system? Hello - First (big) road trip using my 2022 Palomino HS 8801 truck camper. Do you recommend filling, or at least putting some fresh water in prior to the trip? I'll be on the highway primarily and will likely be stopping at a campground with hookups but you never know. Figure best to have some in there. I know weight is always an issue. Also, with the black tank set up, should I run some water in there before adding the deodorant? If you can employ a wife/helper etc and have 2 drills or hand cranks or whatever, it would be preferable IMO. Strange you could get it to pick a front leg, but good, I mean great, as it's pretty well balanced for loading (most TC's will 3 leg and pick a rear leg no problem, but most wont float a front leg due to center of gravity) Idk where to find jacks, but good luck in your search and happy camping with your new camper! Just bought a 2022 Palomino HS 8801 for my 2015 RAM 2500. (Added Timbren bump stops but that is a different topic). Love it so far, but one thing I am absolutely HATING is that it did not ship with electric jacks. It is pre wired for them and should have but with supply chain issues they are VERY hard to find. I've taken it off and put it back on once for practice. Looking for advice, with safety first and foremost, on technique. I raised (and lowered) each jack no more than 4" at a time and used my level to make sure things were steady. Kept the front a bit higher at all times. One of the legs would come completely off the ground each time I did this. Is that alright? I could probably adjust each jack by like an inch or less to avoid this but that would take FOREVER! Gotta say, I was nervous getting that thing high enough to load on the truck! I don't care what the weight rating is on those jacks it is sketchy. Thanks for any thoughts. Oh, and if you know of any electric jacks available let me know ASAP! Can't get them anywhere.4.4KViews0likes15Comments
