I went with a 5 pack of ARCTIC F12 with fluid dynamic bearings from amazon. I used 1 inside the fridge and 4 in the roof vent. I tapped into 12v for the roof fans in the exterior access panel, and put an on/off/speed controller in the area under the kitchen sink. If we are boondocking and need to save energy I can turn off the exterior fans, and unclip the alligator from the interior fins.Re: Refrigerator Circulator FanI tried a few different ones from ebay, not sure what type of bearings they had, but none lasted more than a season or two. Now i have a computer cooling fan (120mm size) from amazon tapped into the light for 12v and I re-used the alligator clip from the old fan for ground. Purchased a protector grill seperately as well. It is on its 3rd or 4th season of continuous use. I zip tied it to the top rack.Re: Best Route from Rte 9 to Rte 1 in MaineI would go 9 to eddington and cross 46 to 1a toward Ellsworth. Any route through milbridge is terribly bumpy and potholed right now, as well as the entire length of 200. But, I have not driven the length of 9 for a couple years so I’m not sure if that way is any better...Re: Undercarriage rustX2 for fluid film. I buy a gallon and apply it with an undercoating gun attached to an air compressor. It needs to be re-applied/touched up every year for best protection. I can re-coat 3 vehicles with one gallon, the initial application uses more. It is also available in aerosol cans.Re: My truck toes (autocorrect lol)better with Shell VPower ScottG wrote: Makes total sense to me. Tuning for premium fuel will indeed give better performance when one actually uses that fuel. To be clear, I am using premuim at every fill up, no matter the brand. It seems that my truck just likes shell better, lol.Re: Underbelly project: tanks hang below frame members . . .Beam clamps are available at Lowe’s or Home Depot along with uninstrut channel. I would sandwich a section of coroplast between the sagging tank and at least 2 equally spaced pieces of unistrut between the frame rails. You could fasten the unistrut to the frame rails with unistrut beam clamps( may vibrate loose on a trailer) , or drill and bolt the unistrut to the I beam flange. The coroplast between the tank and unistrut would insulate the tank from chafing on the unistrut (unlikely because unistrut is smooth with radius corners), and if you cut and install the coroplast it as a separate section (overlap the edges) it will be easier to service the tank later if needed. It should install relatively easy with empty tanks. After posting, I re-read your first post to make sure that I understood. If insulating the tanks is the objective you could still use the unistrut to support the sagging tank, and sandwich closed cell foam board between the tank and the coroplast. You would just need longer bolts to fasten the unistrut to the i beam flanges (beam clamps would not work in this case). Also, this would be a good opportunity to install an electric tank heater pad.My truck toes (autocorrect lol)better with Shell VPowerOn our last few long distance trips, I have noticed more power towing with our 2003 Yukon (6 liter) when using Shell VPower 93 octane. I have a bully dog tuner on the truck, set to the highest power setting which requires premium fuel. When traveling I used to fill up at any station that was convenient, I could fit into, and had a name that I recognized. Last year, we happened to fill up at shell stations a lot and I noticed that the trans was not downshifting as much on the highway over the minor hills. We just returned from a vacation from our home in Maine to Virginia and back. I tried to fill up at shell whenever possible in order to confirm, and when I filled with other brands there was definitely less power and the trans shifted to 3 on minor hills, where with shell it would stay in 4th. I doubt I will convince anyone this is true, especially when shell 93 octane is the most expensive gas out there, just wanted to share what I have found.Re: First landing state parkWe stayed there last week. Most of the sites on the north end section (1 thru 32) are large. Several 50’ sites with power and water. They would grab any crack or groove in the pavement and try to follow it, and had poor traction in dirt and mud. I replaced them last year with falken wildpeak a/t3w. Superior traction to the michelins in all conditions, and surprisingly quieter.
