As long as it stays above 107 you are golden. On another note, it is FAR more important to have a top of the line EMS/surge device on a 50 amp RV. I'd recommend you invest in one before the first trip. I would tighten ALL the connections in the power distribution center. Received my progressive industries EMS-PT50X in the mail today!Re: Safe to use a 30 amp Extension on 50 amp trailer at home?? ReneeG wrote: We have a 50 amp FW and only a 30amp plug in at home. When plugged in and ready for a trip, we can run one AC (we have two), the fridge, and run the water heater on propane, plus the TV's, with no problem. Again, we are in testing mode just to make sure all is working before heading out, so we don't leave the TV's on and for sure we don't run the fireplace or built in vacuum. Are you using 30 amp extension cords in the mix? The extension cord is my big concern. I'm not wanting to buy 30 feet of 50 amp extension if I can safely utilize the 30 feet of 30 amp I currently own. Thanks!Re: Safe to use a 30 amp Extension on 50 amp trailer at home?? enblethen wrote: Yes, you can use the 30 amp for the majority of the functions in your new rig. Care should be taken on using multiple air conditioners and 120 volt water heater element. Thanks Bud.... we only have one AC. We are wired for two, hence the 50 amp service. Thanks for the tip on the HW heater. While I won't turn it on at home, it is good to know if I'm ever stuck with 30 amp service at a campground. Cheers. ChrisSafe to use a 30 amp Extension on 50 amp trailer at home??We are trading our 30 amp trailer in tomorrow for a trailer with 50 amp service. We currently have 30 amp receptacle in our garage which we use to plug in the trailer as we pack it to utilize the air conditioner and cool down the refrigerator. As the trailer is in the street, it requires me to use two extension cords in addition to our shore power cord to reach the receptacle. Here is the question: Can I safely use my existing 30 amp extension cords to plug my new 50 amp trailer into my homes 30 amp receptacle with the intention of using the AC and fridge? Travel Trailer --> 50 amp shore cord --> 50 amp female to 30 amp male pigtail --> 30 amp extension --> 30 amp extension --> 30 amp receptacle? Thanks!! ChrisRe: Using a 30 amp EMS with a 50 amp coach SoundGuy wrote: Totally. Be aware that in another concurrent thread one forum member ran into a situation where the park has rules against plugging any rig wired with 50 amp service into a 30 amp campsite service. Have never seen this before but apparently it's happening more and more. Can't say whether you would run into any restrictions on a site offering both 30 amp & 50 amp service. I suppose a better long term solution might be to sell the 30 amp EMS you just bought and use the proceeds to buy the 50 amp version, even though it'll cost. Thanks for the feedback. I just recently read that entire thread :) In the meantime, Amazon is letting me return it outside the return window as a one time courtesy. I literally just ordered the 50 amp version.Using a 30 amp EMS with a 50 amp coachIs it safe to use my portable Progressive Industries EMS-PT30X (30 ammp EMS) with my 50 amp coach (using a dogbone)? We are camping at Frontier Town in Ocean City MD starting next week and will have both 30 amp and 50 amp service available. However, I would feel better using my EMS to plug into the pedestal. So... EMS into 30 amp service, dogbone adapter into EMS and finally 50 amp coach into dogbone. I literally bought the EMS-PT30X from Amazon 33 days ago and I'm outside my return window. Unexpectedly we upgraded from a 30 AMP TT to a 50 AMP TT this week and I still want to use my EMS. My TT is prewired for a 2nd A/C, hence the need for 50 AMP service. You only get one initial offer, which they will never take. Start as low as you feel comfortable, because you are only going up from there.Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012 Wilderness 320 DBHS wrote: I saw a new TT with some led lights that were at the bottom of the entry door that shined onto the steps, and could not find anywhere to get such a thing. One day at Walmart I saw a package of flex lights(two small 12v stips of leds made to put on a car)and after some thought of how to wire them up, I bought a set, and love the results. Wow - that looks really good. Nice and easy to find the steps after a few too many :)Re: HEY we need a sticky for our TT pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sunshdw wrote: ShadySkins wrote: muddluvr wrote: this is my first post, might as well show you what i just bought...first trailer, this is maiden voyage..
