All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Andersen hitchWe replaced a bar type WD hitch with the Andersen, our 1/2 ton with the 25RKS definitely gave us an uncomfortable jiggle factor on rough roads with the bar type. We switched to the Andersen and two things occurred, comfort and relaxation/concern about the vehicle in the rear view mirror. This is not to mention the ease of hitching and unhitching.Re: Trailer Life MagazineIt takes me about the same time to get it to the recycle bin.Re: Coachman Catalinas RICK-ards Red wrote: We have a Catalina, 25RKS for 4 years now. We have not had any major issues (knock on wood). We like to travel so the floor plan works real good for us. It pulls very well behind the truck - highly recommended. We too have that model and can't guess how many miles, it is early 2000s model.Re: Battery?I have 2 12Vdc deep cycles mostly because the trailer came that way. There have been a few times that was good but don't expect furnace use very long, radio, tv, frig and lighting okay, better with LEDs.Re: Weight Distribution with sway control questionI found the Andersen a great improvement over the system installed on my trailer. Control, ride, ease of connection and feeling of safety all improved. Picture this, you are on a rough road, staying in your lane, getting feedback from the trailer through the hitch system, you're on edge, your wife wishes she were smaller in all possible manners related to dynamic comfort and you change systems and the feedback is reduced by 90% as are the previous objections but you find no difference in control, perhaps better control due to better attention! As long as my load is in the range, my hitch will be Andersen.Re: Travel Trailer Newb question RE: WDHGet an Andersen hitch. Easy hitching, smoothest riding and quietest hitch I have ever had. A quick search on any forum will result in lots of hits. Good luckRe: Downsizing - How much?We have a 25 rear kitchen with slide dinette only. We have spent a little over 2 months in it. The front bedroom has a door which is good since I often stay up and read with the cat while wife goes to bed earlier. We have enough storage to lose things. Easily towed with our half ton. My requisite was not sleeping on a pull out couch, the extra bedroom was a plus. Also, there is no exit door for the bedroom, a friend has a rear living room version but he has a door exiting the bedroom and it really cuts into the usable space.Re: Advice on Trailer to be left on propertyIf you have any slope, level the camper, set the drains to the slope, run a 12" deep trench, install perforated 4" on 3/4" minus cover with porous membrane and refill. Before any jump in to criticize, this could be range and patties aren't buried. Gravel is good for a base. I would go with a 1" minus and top with ground limestone. This will give a pretty firm base and a smooth top. If you don't need A/C you can get by with the genny, A/C will break the bank. Power near the pond will be appreciated in the future even if you locate to a different area. Think, lights, pavilion for picnics aerator for fish during high heat or freezing weather. Once you have a meter base you can drag the power on your own poles wherever you wish. BTDTRe: Travel trailer for taller personOur first (a 14' hitch to bumper)had 6' 1" ceiling with the A/C in the middle by the stove. It took 2 days camping and a bandaid or two to remember to duck going from aft head to fwd. couch. ;-)Re: Anderson WDH hitch installationIf needed you can turn the hitch so the ell is up.
