I recently spent 14 hrs. running my gen. outside their TRUCK REPAIR Garage when my alternator died whle traveling, leaving me along the side of Rte. 31 in Indiana. I sat from 4:30P.M. to 6:30P.M. waiting for a tow truck to arrive. I was towed to their shop 20 miles and arrived around 10:00P.M. I will stick to my generator every time. and the gen overnight.Re: So do you all use level jacks of some sort ?I have Equalizer Leveling System on my MH. When I get in my site I push Auto Level and the air bags dump, the jacks extend and level the MH front to back and side to side. This system works great and I have not had any problems with it in the 14 years of traveling. These jacks will raise my MH completely off the if I wanted.Re: New RAM gas engine rumored to be 7.0L (426 cu in) ACZL wrote: GM had the 8.1 back in early 2000's. Both GM & Ram if I recall right had problems with their transmissions for the 8.1 and early Cummins. Wasn't till Allison got the bugs worked out to where you really don't hear much about the Ally's failing. Ram offers 2 tranny's, but the Aisin Has proven so far to be quite good. Ford as most know, came out w/ their new tranny back in '03 when the 6.0 debuted. Called, Torqshift, I haven't seen hardly any folks complaining about it since it was introduced. Thought I saw where Ford was coming out w/a 7.3 gasser. Still see their V-10's in MH's.[r/quote] I have a 2001 Suburban 2500 w/8.1L and 4L80 transmisson w/no problems. I have heard of problems with that transmisson. JMO Re: Questins re power awaningPower Awnings do not have knobs. Some will retract if the wind is a certain speed.Re: Using Good Sam Card a hassle at Flying JI have a Frequent Fueler Advantage card from Pilot and use it at the pump at Pilot and FlyingJ stations with no problems.Re: Shopping tires now wow$$$$I have Michelin 275/80R/22.5 as this my 2nd set now having 63,000 miles since purchased. FMCA offers discounts by Michelin. This set is 8 years old and look like ride great. Their must be a reason that most expensive Motorhomes have Michelin on them. Buy a cheaper set and if one blows and does damage to your air hose and other damage to your MH and you wish you bought a better set of tires.Re: RF Fridge to Samsung RF 18 pianotuna wrote: This looks interesting: options for the 1200 series (4 door Norcolds) #1 the new cooling unit option: Converts your existing fridge to a residential fridge, (which eliminates your Lp gas and ammonia absortion system) this cooling unit is built with a compressor system and not only do you get to keep your same fridge and controls you are used to but there is no need to remove the windshield, door or window to get the old fridge out and the new in nor the hassle of cutting or redoing the cabinets to make a new fridge fit. There is also no need to have your coach level anymore for the fridge, since this unit will have a compressor. It pulls .08 Amp on AC, only a fraction of what normal residentual fridges will pull and will run off a 600W inverter (does not require pure sign wave). Or we can also do a DC 12V Compressor off the 12V wires behind the fridge with a 5.5A draw. This cooling unit is designed to withstand hot humid temps and will keep your ice-cream hard. This unit comes with a 3 year warranty with the option for an aditional 3 years for $125, it is very user friendly to work on in the field should it need it down the road. we can ship to you,see our easy to install video or have it factory installed for $300 ……………… . AC Compressor $895.00 / DC Compressor $1095.00 * there is always the question of how much power it really takes or how long the battery will last on a charge........ you need to multiply your amp hr on your battery by how many batteries then multiply by 60% for amps available, then divide by either 8 for the AC compressor or 5.5 for the DC Compressor Example: 4 batteries at 225 A hr (these hrs are subject to amb temp an usage) x 4 900 amps total x60% 540 available Amps / 5.5 amp draw DC 98 hrs of run time 50% average run time 147 hrs of available run time Re: Charging systemIn my experience most engine alternators do not charge the House Batteries unless specific wired.
