A slow leak but with my on-board compressor it is manageable. Recently I decided to replace the bag. When I went to dealer the technician researched the cost of replacing just one bag and I got the bad news that Firestone will not sell just one bag. They will send the dealer a complete set up for over $500... At that point I decided I can live with the leak...Re: Fridge in slide ?Ihave been enjoying my Lance 981 Max since 2005 and the refrig in the slide is no problem what so ever... It is about 12 inches from the floor of the unit and the door opens easily toward the front... I suppose if someone is in the bunk area and wanted to get out, the door would have to be closed... The answer to that is to say "Hold on a minute"... problem solved...Re: TC + Trailer Towing - do you have a rear camera?Sure do have one... I found that other drivers tend to follow too closely and I cannot see them in my rear view mirrors. My Lance was pre-wired for a Voyager camera and I took advantage of it and installed the camera my self.. It has saved me from mishaps so many times that I feel I cannot trust not having one.. I use it to monitor what is tailgating me; determine what is behind me before backing, use it extensively to back my boat into the water and into garage when I return home.... The big plus for me was the elimination of a blind spot that blocked my field of view... Yep I would immediately replace mine if it malfunctions and would immediately install one on a new TC if I felt I need another TC....Re: Truck Camper Floor StrengthOver the years I have seen discussions regarding the use of the TC off the truck and it seems that it depends on the Brand Name of the TC and who makes it.... The major attraction of the TC for me was the versatility and I looked for a manufacturer that stressed the fact that it could be used off the truck. On numerous occasions I have separated mine and it allowed me to use the vehicle for other things while camping.. I lived in my Lance 981 Max for two months off the vehicle with no problems. There have been reports that the entire unit has been stolen from storage facilities when all the thief had to do is hot wire the vehicle and drive off... I feel it would not be easy to steal one when it is stored off the truck... As someone else stated, the jacks have switches that have to be activated to get them to work.Re: Lance backup camera brand? My Lance 981 Max was prewired for the Voyager camera.. Using their system made installation easy.. The couple of questions I had were promptly answered by their technician and I have been real happy with it..Re: backup camerasMy Lance 981 max was prewired for a voyager camera system... decided on a hard wire system because there was a lot of discuss on this forum about interference with the wireless camera... I am guessing that is no longer the problem. Having good service from my installation with a little help from the Voyager Tech Rep... Regardless the camera is a great safety device.. I use mine as a rearview camera and it stays on when the wheels are turning.. Saved me from blind spot accidents numerous time...Re: Rigid Foam BoardI am reviewing the comments and I wonder if we are talking about the same material...I used the 3/4 in pink foam board that is used as insulation.. Put it in 3 summers ago and it is holding up fine with my Lance 981 Max... I did attach it to 1/4 inch plywood because I needed a comfort zone over the 5th wheel bed rails...The is very little compression etc with the material I used... Just SayinRe: enclosed trailer living roomWhat a great idea... I never thought of such an approach and initially came up with no reason to look into it.. After reading this post, the thought process began to work and ideas I am going to explore.. If this activated my one remaining brain cell, I would suspect it will have the same effect on others... Hope they post their thoughts and plans on RV net to inspire the rest of us... Thanks for posting and as Roy would have said.. Happy Trails.Re: KneesI am in the final chapter of my life cycle and moderately disabled .. Use my TC extensively for fishing/camping trips for weeks at a time and never had a problem getting into or out of the camper getting in or out of bed etc. It may not be a pretty sight but I am able to make the adjustments in my movements to compensate for the maturing process... The only thing I find too difficult to do safely is getting in and out of my boat without a dock. Just SayinRe: Cabover struts? With that load you need to keep that tire pressure to the max... both front and back... A previous post stated that 80 PSI for E rated tires and that is what I see on the side walls of my tires... My Lance 981 max has struts from the camper to the hinges of the hood.. The help to soften the porpoise feeling... Does not eliminate it but I would not go down the Interstate without mine being installed... Play with the air pressure... Try a trip with 75 PSI and back off till you find a pressure that works for you... Ran mine at 80PSI until I put in the spacers allowing the overloads to engage earlier.. all the little pieces of the pie came together and now I am a Happy Camper.....Just Sayin
