We camp regularly with 5 people and 2 dogs. We have 3 kids and we outgrew our old truck camper, moved to a 5th wheel for one season and sold it and moved into the 1131. There is no way a family of 5 (w/ teens) could make use of a regular TC. The drop down tent in the back is BIG. Two full grown men could sleep comfortably on it. The tent portion is cooler then the rest of the camper in the winter and warmer in the summer, but the furnace works just fine. I made an insulated liner out of reflectix for winter time - it helps alot. Learned this from the popup forum. We have had 7 people in this camper (and the dogs) and all had fun. It will be our family camper until the kids are grown. The fit and finish and quality of the build on the Lance has been really good. We have had no problem with the tent. I agree with the other poster that the tent has only been a positive. If it rains or snows on the canvas, I open it to let it dry once back home. Let me know if you have more questions.Re: Lance TC QualitySold my eagle cap 850 when the kids got too big and bought a used 2007 Lance 1131. I have been pleased with it and would consider another one in the future. The fit and finish seems just fine for me. I think of Lance sort of like ford... they are not lexus or bmw. They are a good solid performer but not flashys or super high end. Reading this thread is the first I have heard of 1172 slide issues. I would research it too see what the real risk is. My camper is big but my 2010 f350 handles it great.Re: Rebuild is moving forward! pjAny new updates or pics? I'm going through withdrawls sine the last update?Re: Lance 1131 / 1191 w/ tent - pros/cons?I have a 2007 1131 with 3 kids and love it. The tent is awesome. For winter camping I added reflectix to the tent and a Wave 6 heater. No way we could stay in truck camping without this model.Re: Stealth camping with a Lance TC w/ Tent OptionI have a 2007 lance 1131 and it is completely usable with the slides in. We have 3 kids and everyone can sleep with the tent in even though it is tighter. I don't like the idea of crawling through the window so we don't use it like that. It's pretty easy to go through the door on the side. We looked really hard at a motor home before this and thought that was the way we would go for sure. Make sure you test drive one with the kids before buying. We were ready to buy a motor home then drove it with the kids... they HATED it! it was loud, not comfortable for riding in the back in for hours and the kids got sea sick with the swaying. Make sure it's a fit for you before taking the plunge. Let me know of you have any questions; I'm happy to help.Re: 2011 F350 make funny noise in dash above 60mphI had the same issue on my 2010 Ford SD. The problem is a leak in the weatherstripping/seal on the windshield. Dealer could not replicate it as it only happened in a crosswind. To solve, narrow down where the affected area is by taping the seal until it stops. When you find the area that has the problem you can buy a Flowable Window Sealer silicone (I got it on amazon) for like 6 to 8 bucks to seal the area. I did this and the problem is solved!Re: Truck camper for 6?Go with the Lance 1191 or 1130 tent option. Doesn't feel like a tent from the inside and easily will handle the 6 people. We upgraded to ours late last year and love it. The room inside is awesome and the side door is nice. Hauls well with our F350 dually. Has kind of a big butt, but still a good compromise over a trailer.Re: Haz the Whaz ruined trip reports?Thank you Whaz... i feel like i know you even though we have never met. We have triplets (born 10 weeks early who spent much time in the ICU) who are now healthy and adventurous and we discovered Cedar Mesa just 3 years ago. We are having a blast finding our way to the magical places in the area. You can see one of our camps from your Comb Ridge perch. Best wishes for your family. Keep the faith.Re: Lots of crazy weather this week anyone "prepping" their TC?Just prepping our new to us 1131 for our first trip in it to Moab next weekend. Looking forward to a new camping season. Best of luck with the snow, we have a lot in the mountains but rain in the valleys.Re: Maggie Rack popularityAnutami, curious about the choice to buy another wolf creek after the plywood splice build issue and your rollover incident. Im not sure i could go back to the same brand after that. Do you feel you can trust the same brand of camper again?
