The Andersen type 5th wheel hitch isn't a GN/5th wheel adapter....but Andersens Ranch adapter is. That's my take on it also (from my uneducated fifth wheel hitch mind). The memo does not involve the Anderson Ultimate hitch at all. It would be important to me to have a hitch that removes easily, as I use my truck daily for tools and equipment. I have to reload all of my equipment after every weekend of camping, having to hoist a big hitch most every Friday and Sunday afternoon during the summer is a no go for me.... I've been considering the Reese Goose box or the Anderson hitch, both seem to fit my needs, with the Reese leading at the moment.Re: Standard hitch vs. gooseneck hitchI've been following threads like this as we plan on upgrading to a fifth wheel, and really want to make the best choice for a hitch. The above Keystone letter refers to the "Anderson Goose Neck Adapter". No such thing on their website. They offer the "Ranch Hitch Adapter", which appears to be a goose neck adapter, and the "Anderson Ultimate Hitch" Which is a hitch and not an adapter. So what is the above letter referring to? I just don't yet know enough about fifth wheel hitches.Re: Travel Trailer Floor PlansOne of my irritants is most trailers have the dinette and sofa on the same side. If you want to have a conversation it's like being on a bus stop. Always talking over the heads of others. Our trailer has the dinette opposite the sofa. Makes for a great conversation area. When it comes time to replace our current trailer, it's going to be a tough floorplan to find.Re: Adding Hitch for Bike carrier on rear??I had a 2" receiver welded to the frame of my camper. I then purchased two Swagman RV two bike racks, and then attached the rack part to a section of thick walled 2" square tubing. This made two-2 bike racks into one-4 bike rack. Works great so far, 20,000 miles of towing. See pic below. Bike RackRe: Travel When Restrictions liftedJust got back from our first weekend camping trip to a private campground about 150 miles away. They have got it figured out! They are open to all self contained units. We reserved a spot on line, found our reservation documents taped to there guard shack, verified our arrival by filling out an on line form, ordered a pizza from their kitchen, it showed up on our picnic table in about 30 min. Left today, never talked to anyone from the campground. Perfect isolation from everyone. If you got rid of the wind it would have been a perfect trip. Did not interact with a sole, not the way there, while we were there, nor on the way home.Re: Who is responsible for discounts? This whole topic started with a post where a customer forgot to ask for their discount, and retroactively requested it before their stay was up. I do agree that it is the customers job to ask for discounts they qualify for after seeing a list of those posted at the business or their website. But the rub begins when a customer is aware of those discounts, but forgets to ask for them. I have done this several times in making camping reservations where I qualify for the Good Sam discount. When I register at the park I request the discount, or sometimes a day or two after my stay has begun, and I always have been cheerfully given the discount. I get that it was my fault, but the job of the business is to give excellent customer service. Pissing me off of my request to save a few bucks will not work in their favor, even it it was my fault.Re: How many miles are on your Tow Vehicle??253,000 but on engine number two.Re: How much longer will we get to enjoy camping with our son?My daughter will be 17 this spring, and still enjoys camping. I will admit our camping ways have changed. Instead of always going to a state park with no hookups or just electricity, we have found ourselves going to more private campgrounds with activities. Having a pool to swim in and other activities is now more important. We also allow her to bring a friend if she wishes. Another thing is to plan activities and day trips away from the campground to see things of interest. Our first camping trip this year is a father-daughter trip to go ride our bikes in a day long bicycle tour. Great fun for both of us, and we have done this for the last 5 years. She is looking forward to the trip. Staying at a electricity only state park. When at the campground I try to always do what she wants to do to keep busy. It is amazing how you can spend a day just riding bikes, swimming, playing bean bag toss, croquet, baseball, etc... Sometimes I just want to sit and do nothing, but I know it is important to her so I suck it up and participate. My wife-not so much. I think part of the excitement is doing so many things you generally wouldn't gather up the energy to do at home. Keeps us older ones active and feeling young!Re: Tow vehicle tire pressureWhen I purchased new tires for my F150, i wanted a higher load capacity tire but didn't want to go to a heavy LT tire that would lower my non-towing gas mileage. I drive the truck about 50,000 miles a year. I chose Hankook Dyanpro ATM extra load tires. You can air them up to 50 psi instead of the standard 44 psi maximum. The truck tows much better than standard tires, but still has a good ride and gas mileage when not towing. Do they tow as good as LT tires? Probably not but it is a good compromise. Other tire manufactures make XL tires also.Re: Bal lock arm stabilizer bars?So here is an excerpt from the Lippert manual, the method of running until the breaker trips certainly goes against what Lippert recommends. "The Electric Stabilizer Jack should be extended until the footpads make contact with the ground. By keeping the switch depressed for another 1-2 seconds, the jack will set and be ready for use. The Electric Stabilizer Jack should never be extended more than two seconds beyond initial contact with the ground. The Electric Stabilizer Jack is used for stabilizing the coach, not leveling the coach. In the event the system shuts off while trying to stabilize the coach, the 6A in-line automatic reset circuit breaker has tripped and will reset within 10 seconds. This is an indication that the jack is not being used as intended and is trying to support too much weight '
