I have a 2011 encounter and when the cruise control is on when you go downhiil the transmission downshifts instead of letting off the the throttle I was on dry pave, but it was January in Canada. Sh#t can happen on an Icy road. It really downshifts hard, could really get the rear end squirrely.Re: Cleaning Windshield and Front CapI've been using a garden sprayer, the pump kind, it holds about 3/4 gal. of water and a telescopic window squeege. Rub a little turtle wax bug and tar on the front cap and rinse,I also find it very handy to wash rims, tablecloths, bbq, etc.Very handy and portable.Re: Downshifting fix for hillsThe ford v-10 will also downshift to slow you going downhill. I found this to be a little unnerving when I went topick up my motorhome in January 300 kms away.thankfully the roads we not icy.Re: Where to place GPS and XM antennaIf you have cabinets over the dash ,check for an access panel and lay the antenna's on top of the framing, just below the front cap. I know the xm antenna will work through the front cap (no need to drill a hole in your roof).Re: Class A Gasser and Mountain TravelFord f-53 chassis's have a sort of transmission brake, you push the tow-haul button and the tranny drops a gear and will hold it. A lot easier on your brakes.Re: FireplaceThermal overload failed on mine.It was from coachmen (made in china). They replaced the whole unit because a two dollar part failed. We do live in a disposable economy.
