It only started dipping below 60 two days ago around here, and I already wish I was in FLA. Enjoy and Merry Xmas!Re: Tow rating decreased for altitudealtitude is a killer my 8.1L 'burb barely made it over Monarch with the 9600lb TT hoping the turbo on our 7.3L PSD fares betterRe: Are you REALLY that inconsiderate??How come I never read posts from the numbskulls who behave badly? Cause there's a lot to be learned here... and I would bet a good portion of those numbskulls you run into out there simply don't know any better. (Don't you hate it when people answer their own question? Yeah, me too.) I could bore you with a big long story about how, early on in my camping days, I pulled a real boner. A wise, old gentleman came over and politely explained the error of my ways; I thanked him, corrected the situation and all was right in the world from then on. I agree with earlier post, most folks are very amenable face to face. But, even more so, I think some folks just simply don't realize they're being inconsiderate (whether it's because they're too lazy to understand, or not).Re: Bumper pull vs. 5th wheelNever pulled a fifth, but using a Hensley Arrow hitch has made towing a very pleasant experience. No wiggle or sway, at all. There's another company that makes 'pivot point projection' hitches, now; Pro-Pride. Have heard very good things about that hitch as well.Re: I-10 Travel Trailer on FIREYikes! It's not cold, so probably not the furnace. Running a generator, maybe? Bad wiring? I talked to guy one time who told me they drove 6 hours with a roast in the oven...Re: Stopped in motor home for going too slow on I-80Yeah, That's what he meant by "pennies from heaven.... It gets you a toy that you need" Did you watch the video I linked?Re: Stopped in motor home for going too slow on I-80 DSDP Don wrote: "boondockdad".....You need to get your information straight. Seizure of cash is not a "windfall" for a police department. In California, one third of the seizure goes to the agency who seized it, Sheriff, Police, etc. That money can only be used for buying equipment. There were STRICT guidelines for it's use. I used it several times to buy badly needed new robots for our unit. One third goes to the State and the last third goes to Mental Health for drug programs. So it's certainly not a windfall to the agency who seized it. Sure. Here's another LEO that doesn't have his "information straight". http://youtu.be/ipHUN-xLLmsRe: Stopped in motor home for going too slow on I-80 westernrvparkowner wrote: DSDP Don wrote: Wow.....Are some of you THAT naïve. This was a dope dealer. They stopped him, but didn't find dope. This doesn't just happen to Joe citizen driving down the road. How many of you drive around with $167K stashed in your vehicle. Suddenly, many of you have made him out as a full timer enjoying his retirement when he gets caught up with the police for no reason.....really!!! I guarantee that if you could see the driver's record, he has a long list of dope convictions. This article is printed from the side of the driver, where law enforcement is never asked or is not willing to discuss the case, but the media likes to print what looks like an outrageous story. This is a defense version of the story and is no different than what you hear from a mass murderer's defense attorney. Telling you he was a choir boy and model citizen. It only took 3 pages, but thank you, we finally have a reasonable response. Makes you wonder why there is any crime in this country at all, since EVERYONE is apparently 100% innocent of any wrong doing and are on the express lane to sainthood. Ever had a "Civics" class? "Innocent until proven guilty ring any bells"? SMHRe: Stopped in motor home for going too slow on I-80Police departments use proceeds from "forfeiture" as budget windfalls. Take one guess how this affects a departments enthusiasm to use "forfeiture". It's always sad to hear somebody say: well, he must have been doing something wrong. Or It doesn't bother me, cause I'm not doing anything wrong. Well, we've now reached the point where "not doing anything wrong" is actionable by the "authorities" There was a study done, where it was shown that the average "law-abiding" citizen broke no less than THREE laws EVERYDAY, and at least one FELONY Google it. And while you're at it, check out the Cato Institute.Re: Stopped in motor home for going too slow on I-80Amazing. Since the first trooper couldn't detain him without any reasonable articulated suspicion, they pull him over 50 minutes down the road?! The whole thing should have been thrown out of court, and those "officers" severely disciplined. "Civil Forfeiture" is one of those concepts that absolutely flies in the face of the Constitution.
