A 30 year old half ton truck is an even worse platform for a TCRe: naples fl to elmira ny 2hams wrote: That will be some long drive days. We try to keep it at 300 miles max. Suggest from I95 take US17 north at Fredricksburg to I66 west to I81 north then take US15 at the southern side of Harrisburg. I would recommend avoiding as much of I-95 as possible. My recommendation would be to go up I-75 to SR 326 (just North of Ocala) to US 301. Take 301 to Callahan, FL to SR 200/A1A to I-95. I-95 North to I-26 (near St. George, SC) to I-77 (near Columbia). Stay on I-77 to I-81. Take I-81 North to NY 17 near Binghamton West to Elmira. Cant give any campground recommendations unless you end up near Roanoke, there is a decent place called Dixie Caverns I think. At a little over 300 miles a day, you are looking at 4 daysRe: Question on West Virginia Turnpike! There's 3 toll booths, one south of Beckley, one north of Beckley and one just South of Charleston It's $2.50 for cars & trucks pulling up to a 2 axle trailer and motorhomes without trailers. $3.25 for motorhomes pulling up to a 2 axle trailer. http://www.transportation.wv.gov/Turnpike/EZPass/Information/Pages/Toll-Rates.aspx I-77 between I-81 and Charleston has some pretty good gradesRe: Palomino Bronco B-600 may NOT be for your Tacoma!Personally I would never consider a TC for a Tundra, let alone the smaller, weaker Tacoma... Same thing goes for any other half ton, I wouldnt discriminate brandsRe: 4x2 or 4x4?4x4 and dont look back. The loss in "sticker" payload capacity is minimal. And "real world" payload capacity loss is zero.Re: Startling insurance infoEasy... if you are ever in an accident, dump your water load, that would certainly helpRe: 2012 F250 6.7 opinions Bionic Man wrote: 73,000 miles and $40k. Redsky wrote: I went to solar panels in part not to have to carry around gas cans with my diesel truck. If I was going to carry it around it would be in plastic gas cans tied to my roof rack on the camper. With solar there is nothing to turn on, nothing to shut off, nothing to fuel or maintain. The solar works 365 days of the year and requires none of my time to do anything at all. Guess you dont have an air conditionerRe: Eco Boost F150 for car only application wwest wrote: nipster wrote: I think the anti-ecoboost hysteria is in full swing in this thread... The issues reported here affect a very small number of people, in very specific circumstances But like someone else mentioned, if it's just going to be a daily driver, you probably dont need the EB engine, maybe just the base V6 "very specific circumstances.." Yes, but Rh (relative humidity) circumstances for which we humans have no sensory perception.... "specific..." Not really. High Rh, >90%, short drive in cruise = Condensate pools. Moderate Rh, 70-90%, long drive in uninterrupted cruise = Condensate pools. CEL/mis-fires = condensate ingestion. I think you are grossly overexaggerating this. I live in Florida, where it is > 70% RH 75% of the entire year, with high temps (>80 deg F) roughly 60% of the year, if it was as cut and dry as you state, every ecoboost in the state of Florida would be dead. As it is, that's not the case... April to mid-late October, if you are lucky it gets below 80 at night, humidity stays in the 90% range, afternoons are mid 90's with 95% humidity Personally I dont own one, I have a 2012 with the 5.0, but I know many people with them, many of which tow, they dont have issues. I didnt buy one because I like working on my vehicles and it seemed like too much high tech I wasnt comfortable with and expensive to fix
