Re: Summer trip to Philadelphia, PA...where to stay?
Thanks everyone! We'll be paying out of pocket for this adventure, so we're hoping it won't be too insanely expensive. It's for a max of 6 months, hopefully not quite that long. He has to be within about an hour commute from the airport, and won't have to be there very often. Hopefully not more than once a week. I homeschool the kids, so I thought it might be an awesome opportunity for us to check out some historical sites too! Most of all, I need to feel safe and clean. There will be some nights when I'll have to be there alone with the kids while my husband works. So, no creepyville places :) Thanks for the suggestions so far! My husband will be working temporarily out of the Philly airport this summer. We're thinking about taking the camper up rather than having him do a short term lease on an apartment. It would allow me and the kids (5&9) to go up to visit, as well as save us some money! The problem is, I don't even know where to begin looking for a campground! Any suggestions? Thank you all so much for your replies! Thanks to all of the advise here, we decided to wait a bit longer to buy a new TT. We'll take our time and make sure we have all of the numbers figured out before making a buying decision. We will have the opportunity to get weighed this week as we're loaded up and traveling, so we should be able to get more accurate numbers there too. Thanks again! Which is the EASIEST route? 40 to 75, or 77/64/35? We've always gone 77, but someone told us 40 was better as far as towing over the mountains. We're towing a TT that weighs about 80% of our truck's tow capacity. Meaning it's a slow go up the mountain! Weather is calling for windy conditions which I don't love either?? We just purchased a 2015 Sierra with the max tow package. Says we can tow 10,900. Looking at a TT that's 8300 dry. We'll be towing in NC/VA/WV mountains on occasion and I don't want any problems! This is our third trip to James Island, so we've done Patriot's Point and Fort Sumter. It's looking like we'll have a couple days of rain, so I'm looking for indoor places to visit and some good places to eat! We have family driving down from OH to stay in one of the cottages at the park while we camp. We'll have kids ranging from 4 to 15 to entertain :)When the weather is decent, we'll have plenty to keep us busy. But the rain is posing a little bit of stress!
