I look forward to a nice steak and a glass of wine occasionally at the table. :)Michigan to Washington D.C. Apr/May 2017Planning about a 3 to 4 week trip starting after Easter (want to avoid Easter school break). Would like to make some stops on the way to and from D.C. Historical sites would be nice. Probably stay in D.C. for 10 days to see everything. Any suggestions about sites to see and good campgrounds would be appreciated. Happy trails,Re: Rear living from 5th to trailerquote=jshupe They're not cheap, but TorkLift GlowStep Revolution steps look great and have an optional hand rail. You can get them with 3-6 steps, depending on your needs, in 6" and 8" depths if I recall correctly. They also make contact with the ground which should significantly increase stability.quote ================================= Last summer we also went to the Torklift Glowstep. What a difference!! So easy to get in & out of the trailer plus the steps touch the ground so now we don't get the trailer shake when entering/exiting. Look here: Torklift Happy trails,Re: Canadian Dollar junmy3 wrote: We should be helping our northern friends. We plan on coming to Canada in July/August so the currency rate should be more even by then. -------------------------- I don't get it. Canada balances their budget and we are trillions of dollars in debt and still the U.S. dollar is worth 25% more????? Boy, I must have been sleeping in my economics class... Merry Christmas everyone.Re: Fifth Wheel vs Travel Trailer bosworthj wrote: That Jay Flight is almost exactly what we would be looking for I think. Gross weight of 7000 concerns me a little with my tow capacity only being 7700. I am sure we can find similar, I know the build quality of Jayfligh is usually pretty decent though... ---------------------- Keep in mind that many Jayco models have a short (RV) queen bed in them. RV Queen is 60" wide by 72" long. Residential queens are 60 X 80 "... Look around and visit some RV Shows to look things over. Happy trails,Re: FLA vs AZ BarbaraOK wrote: We spent one winter in Florida. Didn't like the bugs - way to many, didn't like the attitude of "oh ****, the snowbirds are here - just leave your money and get out of our way", did I mention the bugs, didn't like the poor quality of seafood restaurants, which is strange when you realize they are surrounded by sea; did I mention the bugs. Spent another winter in the RGV - some bugs, blowing dirt from all of the farming area, some cold days, blowing dirt (thick enough to chew), nothing in terms of cultural arts, concerts, great shopping, etc. We spent several winters wandering around Arizona before we settled on Mesa - just has everything we want. Great access to performing arts, great shopping, great restaurants, fantastic museums, universities, 20 minutes and we're up in the mountains, sun from October to April, shorts most if the winter, great medical care (tht becomes more important as one ages), and SPRING TRAINING with 12 major league teams playing all within 45 min drives at the most from each other. Life is good.:C Barb --------------------------------- Have spent winters in Corpus Christi, Tx and Ft. Myers, Florida. You're absolutely correct Barb. Florida is full of bugs (flying-biting and crawling). Texas has what's called "mud-rain". Got up one morning to mud covering everything in sight. Asked a neighbor what's this?? He said it's from sand storm down in Mexico and then the wind carries it North and mixes with the rain. Oh great. Don't know much about Mesa but will look into it. Happy trails,Re: Fifth Wheel vs Travel TrailerThere's plenty of 5th wheelers out there that can safely be pulled with a 1/2 ton truck. Many even have slides. The newer 5ers are made with more aluminum so they are much lighter than the older units. Another big benefit of 5ers is all that extra storage area.Plus they are much more stable going down the highway For starters take a look here: Forest River Highland Ridge Northwood Keystone Good luckRe: Warranty solaman wrote: The wife and I are starting the process of finding a travel trailer. We where wondering which ones have the best warranty. We thought that would be a good place to start. =============================== Last I heard Jayco still has their 2 year warranty. Also Forest River has an optional second year warranty for $150.(Must be bought thru Forest River- not the dealer). If you want to keep it light then look at the all aluminum construction (including roof trusses)instead of the wood units. Happy trails,Sun RV ResortsSun RV Resorts owns a ton of RV Resorts in various States. But I've noticed that their reservation website always has a notice that they are "UPDATING" their webpage. This has been going on since last summer. Oh if you want to give them your phone number they'll start calling you but don't attempt to check out availability on their website. And this is from a "RESORT"????????????????????????Re: Towing in the snowNever ever tow in the snow. February 2014 we flipped a trailer & pick up on I-75 just North of the Ohio border. Was driving very slow and hit black ice. We flipped and so did many others around us ( Police spun out- trucks crashed thru barriers. It's never worth taking the chance....
