Since the manuals for my vehicles state don't use less than 87, I went with the mid grade 87 or premium 91 which pushed the price to over $4 gallon.Re: Thank Heavens for Our MotorhomeWhenever there is a power outage after dark, we head to the Moho and fire up the genset. Watch TV and since the summer storms are usually the culprit, the AC too. Note we always park with a full tank so with care could run a week or maybe 2 on that fuel.Re: 6 passenger toad for gas rvFWD minivan on a tow dolly.Re: Let's beat this horse once againWe did a newer used gas Winnebago, V10 with the 5 speed torqshift. Winnebago insulates very well and the motor noise is not so bad. My local mechanic does repairs when neededRe: Ford Triton V-10 Info RequestI have owned both the 2 valve V10 with the 4r100 and the 3 valve with the 5r110. Hands down choose the 3 valve with the 5r110. It has much better gearing for the hills along with take off power.Re: EGR DeletesIt seems like a rite of passage here in Central VA to buy a new diesel truck, then delete the emissions controls. How can one tell it has been done? Easy. The tailpipe is double in size, they are noisy as all heck, and stink like the dickens. But, few shops here will touch a truck to do this as EPA has been lowering the boom on them. Since the central counties of VA are all in attainment for ozone NAAQS, no issues with getting the annual inspections (now being said that Ford/Chevy/Dodge dealers will not pass any inspections on chopped trucks, only small mom and pops will look the other way). But, no way these would pass in NOVA or any other state in the Northeast Ozone Transport Region which is the entire eastern seaboard. FWIWRe: Covid 19 warningI am located in central rural VA. Maybe 180 cases total since March. I think it has more to do with urban vs rural. NOVA, RIC, and VA Beach have the highest population densities hence the highest rates. We have no intention of traveling there and are satisfied here in the boonies. FWIW we did travel cross country in June to see our DD and SIL in Denver metro. We camped at Chatfield SP, and closest we got to Denver was Littleton. We visited many rural locations in CO and came home no problems. Too many stories have we heard of contagion for folks that packed into Myrtle Beach and Pigeon Forge. We have a beach camping trip planned but not until September and hopefully then all the families will be back at home and density much lower. We will mainly stay to ourselves at the campground on the beach anyway.Re: Who's hitting the road this summer? We just finished a 2 week cross country trip from VA to CO. No problems.Re: Ford V1040 MPH with a dinghy is typical of what we just did in the mountainous section of I-70 in CO. I was trying to keep the RPM at 4200 but based on posts maybe 4700 would have been better. Worst grade was this trip I-70 from Dillon to Eisenhower Tunnel, 12 miles of 6%. Don’t like straining the tranny like that as it was making some strange whining sounds the last mile or so (5 speed Torqshift). May unhitch the dinghy if we ever do that grade again.Re: Quality used Class A'sForest River Georgetown made a true 2 full bath model. I believe it had bunk beds as well and this may be a deal breaker for you. We have a bunk model and use the bunks for storage exclusively and they are very useful.
