I have dealt with them in the past and they were very knowledgeable. They are on 40 Connecting Blvd in North Tonawanda, ny. This is right off Niagara Falls Blvd about 3 miles north of I-290. Call them and ask about axle alignment. SteveRe: sears 3000 inverterIf you go to the link that gbopp gave (which is at Lowes) and scroll down to the Q & A section, you will find that several people asked questions about the decibel level. Interestingly, there are a couple of answers from Generac (which previous posts alluded to being the manufacturer of the Craftsman) in which Generac says that because there are no industry standards for noise level measurement they won't give a noise rating on any of their products. Some owners of the genny chipped in saying that it was "very quiet" and I think one of them said "around 52 dB" and another said he measured 75-80dB 5 feet in front of it but says his gen may have been defective. There are some real eye-opening questions, like "Can I run this generator indoors?". SteveRe: Watch those glass stove tops.Tempered glass is glass with the outside layer in tension. Imagine a very tight shrink-wrap around the glass. It's hard to break, but once the outside layer tension is damaged anywhere, the tension causes the whole thing to burst, usually into many small pieces. SteveRe: Painful just to look at lolI would have expected to see the tires indented a lot given the very small contact area of the wood/rock. Instead, the tires look almost perfectly round, like they aren't carrying much weight. Is it possible that levelling jacks are holding most of the weight and the tires are more or less hanging? SteveRe: 8531 Furnace Duct Adapter Install QuestionsI have added lots of these to my home HVAC system. You can buy them at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Just find one that fits the hole/duct size. Usually they have a bunch of fingers that you reach through the hole and bend over against the inside of the plenum to hold it in place. SteveRe: Any new developments in hitches? Skelshy wrote: Z71K9 wrote: Hensley Arrow Can you briefly explain why/how that helps? I have had the Hensley Arrow for 16 years now. Great stability, no sway, etc. However, I would never tell anyone that one of its advantages is faster hitching/unhitching. Unlike a ball, which can take a pretty severe up/down angle misalignment between the TV and trailer, the Hensley requires adjustment of the hitch to match the misalignment. I usually don't have a problem, but on a bad day you could spend a lot of time adjusting and readjusting, wondering why the stinger won't go in for the last two inches! SteveRe: Slide out doesn't workI had this happen on our 2004 Rockwood. The motor had a shaft sticking out the back, on which an electric brake was placed. The brake clamps the shaft when there is no power to the motor to keep the slide from creeping out from vibration when driving. The brake had failed and always clamped the shaft. I replaced the brake and all was well after that. SteveRe: 120 volt cigarette lighter size outletActually, round single 120Vac outlets do exist and I have used them in our house: Round self-contained outlet They don't need an outlet box and are approved for direct connection with Romex (In and Out for daisy-chaining) SteveRe: How hard to temporarily remove slide topper?I had to do this exact thing on our 2004 Rockwood when it was NEW! I had a leak into the storage cabinet at the top of the dinette slide, but only when water got under the topper. Most of the time the topper masked the bad seal on the slide roof by covering it. This was years ago, but if I remember correctly, there were two brackets that bolted to the slide wall (one at each end) and the topper ends had pieces that slid onto the brackets and were held from moving by setscrews. You had to slide the topper about 6 inches sideways to release it. I think I had to remove one end cap on the topper, and also there was a place to push a Phillips screwdriver into a hole to lock the roller in place so it didn't try to retract and pull the topper. Since you had to slide the topper sideways a little to release it from the brackets, I had to have the slide extended at least halfway so the topper canvas could move 4-6 inches sideways at the slide wall end while still held tightly at the RV wall in the channel above the slide. Like all slides, beware that there is a lot of tension on the roller and you could get struck by a spinning end bracket if you don't lock the roller. These are for my slide topper, yours may be completely different. SteveRe: Suggestions for closing slide out that's been open 5+ yearsMy mechanical worm-gear slides have a manual crank mode, but you have to remove a pin first. The motor has a brake on it which locks the shaft when there is no 12V applied to it to keep the slide from creeping out due to vibration. For this reason, you have to decouple the motor shaft from the rest of the assembly before going to manual crank mode. I once had the brake fail and refuse to let go. If the slides haven't been moved in 5 years and won't go when you push the button, check to see if you have the brake, which might have seized up. Steve
