All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Driving Route 50Been across US 50 in Colorado many times, just a couple days ago was the last time. The trip from eastern Kansas to Pueblo is rather hum drum, smell the cow pens going thru Dodge City. Going over Monarch, then across Nevada is a treat. Watch your fuel stops across Nevada. Monarch with a gas p/u is slow going, but doable. Watch your transmission temp. With a diesel p/u, easy. This year we were in a gas m/h towing a Jeep, just paid strict attention to speed.Re: InvisibrakeI had an Invisibrake in our previous toad, a Chevy Equinox. After dealer installed it, I never looked or thought about it for about 18 months and 18,000 miles, until I had it removed so I could have it re-installed in our new toad, a Jeep Wrangler. That ought to tell you my thoughts on it.Re: Towed vehicle breakaway events? You'd be surprised how many folks run around with no brakes in the toad.Re: 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport - 4 down thankdog wrote: I have one final question - do any of you use any protection on your toad to protect the paint/windshield from rocks, etc. Prior to the Jeep, I towed a Chevy Equinox for about 18k miles, and nary a scratch with no protection.Re: 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport - 4 downJust bought a Wrangler Unlimited also, and am curious to what you learn. Book says to leave key in Acc and disconnect neg. battery cable. What I don't understand is a 14 model does not have a locking steering wheel, so why would you need to leave the key?Re: Towed vehicle breakaway events?I had the locking pin that holds the draw bar in the receiver come loose one time, and it caused the draw bar to pull out. I felt the tug when the cables caught it, and as I was slowing down, the car came to rest up against the right rear corner of the m/h home. The cross bar on the Roadmaster tow bar came into contact with the hitch on the m/h, causing only two very unnoticeable scratches. Have no idea why the pin came out, we had been on the road for a couple days. I'll never trust a locking pin again.Re: ANYONE TOWING 5TH WHEEL WITH RAMBOXIt depends strictly on what type pin box the rv has. Son in laws box is about 60=70 degrees vertical. With a hitch that has short arms, it works. If your pin box comes out at more or less 45 degree angle, and the pin latches are long, you'll hit the side rails with something. The side rails on a Rambox are only 49 inches apart, where a standard box is close to 60 inches or better wide.Re: What's wrong with my oven?In addition to the fire bricks, my wife used parchment paper to prevent burned biscuits.Re: B&W hitchI also highly recommend the Patriot, and the purchase from Tweetys. I'm 66 and disabled, but could manage the head fine, the base with some effort.Re: ANYONE TOWING 5TH WHEEL WITH RAMBOXIs there any more discussion on this matter. My daughter and her husband just bought one of these 3/4t's with the RamBox, and asked me what ideas I had for towing their fw. I've never seen the trailer, so don't know what kind of pin box it has. Still waiting for pictures.
