If your roof OTA Crank-up Antenna does not look like this then you need to add the SMALL DIPOLES like shown in this picture. ALot of the older trailers did not include the small dipoles... Takes just a few minutes to mount the kit... You can find these add-on kits on AMAZON This will help your reception very much... This BATWING antenna shown here would be pointing to the transmitter station to the right of the photo... Roy Ken My antenna doesn't have the Dipoles. A quick look on Amazon and I didn't see anything that looked like those. Will look more later when I have time.New antenna or tv amplifier?Hello all. Wife and I have TT setup at a permanent campground along with my parents. My parents pay for satellite tv, as a cord cutter who doesn't even have cable or sat at home, I'm not paying for it at RV. LOL My question is we have a 2005 Hornet TT that I believe still has factory antenna on it. It does have a included amplifier. The campground is about 63 miles from local channels. Is there a antenna or amplifier that we could buy to better our reception? We can pick up about 2-3 channels in the 40-50% signal with the built in amplifier on. Without it we get nothing. My home antenna has a Channel Master amplifier that works great. But not sure if that'd work with RV or if there is a better option. Thanks, JeffreyRe: Long term stay questions. mlts22 wrote: It would be wise to buy an EMS, or at least a surge suppressor for the electric side. That way, voltage spikes/surges or sags won't fry stuff over time. Actually bought one of those last year. Can't remember the exact brand but it was recommend by some people here on this forum.Re: Long term stay questions. One other quick question. Am I better off staying hooked up to campground water or filling up fresh water tank? How long will fresh water tank water stay fresh for? Trying to decide which route is better.Re: Long term stay questions. DutchmenSport wrote: For an RV filter, one like this will probably do OK. You may want to eventually beef-it-up but these are relatively inexpensive, can be used for one season, and tossed out if you don't like it. Click here. That looks great. If we do that does the regulator go on between the camper and filter? or between water hose and filter?Long term stay questions. The wife and I went down one income, due to her injuring her back. So we weren't' gonna be able to afford to travel with the TT we bought last summer. So as a early Anniversary present my parents bought us a annual pass for a small local campground. It has electric, sewer and water hookups. My question is when it comes to sewer and water hookups. The campgrounds we stayed at last year didn't have these. For the Water: I have a regulator on the line coming in. Is this water safe to drink? Should I buy some type of filter for the end of the faucet? You do not need water pump with city water connection correct? Do I just turn on water heater when we need hot water? For the Sewer: We just bought a sewer hose that will thread into the sewer line at the campground so that it's a sealed connection. Do we need to buy a sewer hose support? If you always hooked up to the sewer, do you leave drain at the hose open? Or let it fill up so far, and then dump it?Or like just dump it each weekend before we had back home? Thanks in Advance, JeffreyRe: Newb question about fresh water tankOk thanks for all replies guys. One other quick question will this Surge Protector work ok? Surge Guard Surge Protector or this one? Progressive Industries Surge Protector I'm leaning towards Surge Guard as it's on sale and is lockable. Can't seem to find locking info for the Progressive Industries one. I plan on buying This Onein the future but funds are alittle short right now but definitely want something before we go for our first time over the 4th.Re: Newb question about fresh water tankOK thanks guys. I'm pretty sure I'm no were close to towing limit, need to really look at numbers to be sure though. Bought a Water Thief last night. Bet it comes it real handy. LOL One more question, I need to buy a surge protector right? Even with having RV insurance? And how hard is a hardwired one to install? Prefer it over portable but know nothing about electric and even less about RV's and Camping World wants $200 to install it. So leaning towards portable but wife is wondering why if we are paying for insurance do we need a surge protector.Re: Newb question about fresh water tank skipnchar wrote: Why not fill the FW tank before you leave? Most would want the convenience of using the restroom facilities while traveling and that takes water. Running with a full tank MAY cost you an additional buck or two per tank for fuel use but that's SO worth it for the convenience. If you don't want to travel with water and you have a source 15 feet away it won't take much hose to reach it and fill your tank when you get there and that's another option for you. Good luck with the new trailer / Skip The RV dealer we bought the TT from (our first one) told us to never travel with water in the fresh water tanks. Talking about how much weight 1 gallon of water adds. Could be wrong I don't know. LOLNewb question about fresh water tankHey guys newb here. Wife and I are planning our first trip with our Travel Trailer over the 4th. We are going to Hardy Lake in Southern Indiana. She's never been but my grandparents went all the time growing up, so have fond memories of that place. However I just realized today that their sites are electric only. My question what's proper etiquette to get fresh water into the tank? According to website, water supply is 15 feet away. Is it normal to run a line from TT to water supply across the road? Or is there a mobile, water drinking tank you recommend I buy? Or pretty sure my grandparents used 2 gallon jugs. LOL IDK just confused on what's proper etiquette. Thanks In Advance, Jeffrey
