I hymned and hawed about what I was going to get and finally just dove in. I spent a lot of time trying to nail down all the power needs I had. I have found that if you are just running 12vdc devices, you can get by with a pretty small system. If you want to watch a lot of tv and toast some bread and vacuum the floors and do a load of laundry, you'd better get some serious battery storage and panels, not to mention a decent inverter. I would guess that if you are just boondocking for an extended weekend and don't spend a lot of time in the trailer, 200-400ah of batteries and 200-300 watts of panels would be more than enough.Re: Interested in any solar adviceIt's somewhat of a rabbit hole. As was mentioned earlier, decide what you want it for and buy the pieces that fill that need. I started with 4 6v AGM batteries and 3 panels (inverter and charge controller also). I now have 6 panels with 1530 watts and 8 6v AGM's with almost 900ah. The reason for this is because we are fulltime boondocking while we build a house. Obviously my needs are greater than most, but if you get real honest with your usage, you'll find you need or want more than you initially think. Good luck.Re: New 5th Wheel price^^What he said. 25-30% is common. Don't forget to hit them up for accessories and other "services".Re: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???Added Cat hydraulic oil additive to the landing gear/leveling system. Have had some popping noises coming from the system and this is Lippert's fix. We'll see if it helps.Re: Generator will not stay runningI would respectfully disagree Mrwizard. I had a fuel pump that was going bad. It would push some fuel but not enough. It would start and run for 10 seconds to 5 minutes and then stall. If under a load, it would quit immediately. Not saying it isn't one of the other things you mentioned, just something that needs to be eliminated from the equation.Re: Options on hitching a 5th wheelThere's also the locking mechanism to consider. Personally, I prefer Pullrite's design. Most others are a clam shell design. Pullrite uses a design that wraps around the pin. There's a lot of info out there. Take your time and weigh it all.Re: Generator will not stay runningSounds like a fuel pump going bad. You could rig up a small container to gravity feed the generator and see if it stays running.Re: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???Batteries are a funny thing. A good charger (multi-stage) will keep them in good shape. A bad charger will ruin them.Re: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???My solar panels came today. My project this weekend will be installing them.Re: Quad LED lights-worth the added price?Have them on my F450 Platinum. Now I wonder how I lived without them.
