The axle spacing from the middle axle to the rear is only 31 inches on center, with the equalizer only measuring 5-3/4 inches eye-to-eye." Am I wrong or does this specify that the axle spacing is different when measuring from front to middle, and from middle to rear. This can't be explained by axle hangers flipping or improperly installed equalizers. It will be interesting to see what Forrest River says about this situation. Yes, you are wrong. When the equa-flex shackles flip, the whole rear axle will move forward, significantly reducing the spacing between the middle and rear axle & tires. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt...Re: suspension problemsI've had this happen to my triple axle toyhauler once before too. It sounds like your rear equalizers flipped themselves when you were doing the leaf springs. This happened on mine when I lifted the RV with my levelers and let the axles hang while rotating tires. I was able to lift the rear of the RV with my leveling jacks and pull the rear axle back enough that the equalizers righted themselves. Keep your hands clear of the equalizers, when the flip back they do so with a bang. I was also told by the XLR factory manager that you can right them also by just raising the front end of the coach up as far as it will go with the front jacks. I don't know how that could possibly work, I haven't tried it, but that's what I was told. If you could post pictures of your front and rear equalizers, I could confirm if the rears are flipped over.Re: ? "ATV Trader" WebsiteDefinitely check out Abernathy's if you don't mind a little drive. Also, Marshall Power Sports in KY is good place to check out. I bought a 2017 RZR 900S from Abernathy's for 12,894 and a 2017 RZR XP1000 from Marshall's for 13,849. Neither dealer charges BS setup or freight costs.Re: F350 Trailer wiring fault when towing my XLRI also have a 2015 F350 and 2016 XLR Thunderbolt. I had the same exact problem the first year I had the trailer. Pop off your trailer hubs and you'll find one of the brake wires has come out of the wire clip and rubbed itself raw on the hub. I went through all my hubs when this happened, and of course it was the last one of 6 wheels where I found the issue. The wire was pretty badly damaged, so I just installed a new magnet and all was good again. However, at the start of this season, the problem returned. I had a feeling about that one brake wire clip (last wheel on the curbside of the trailer) and sure enough, when I opened it up, the wire had come off the clip again. I probably should have just ordered some new clips, but I just zip tied that sucker to the brake arm inside and it's been fine all summer. While I had it up in the air, I ended up just opening all the hubs up for inspection and repacked the bearings too.Re: DRW vs SRW Trucks drittal wrote: tmilicia wrote: We tow our XLR 395 with a '15 F350 SRW. The XLR is just shy of 45' long and rated at 21k, but we're usually 17-18k depending on what (if anything) is in the garage. I'm under my payload, axle and tire capacities too with a 2800# pin. Have you actually weighed it? Saying 17-18k with 2800 pin is only 15.5-16.5% pin weight. Yes, it has been weighed. Loaded up for camping, 1/3 tank water, roughly 20gal. gas & empty garage the camper weighed in at 17100 with a 2850 pin. When we load up the garage with my son's rzr170 (500#) and my quad (600#), the pin lightens about 200#.Re: DRW vs SRW Trucks lawnspecialties wrote: I remember that pic all too well. As we were beginning our search for our next toy hauler earlier this year, I saw that pic. Between you and Rodney (taken), XLR went way high on our list. We were already big Forest River fans. The main reason we went with the Vengeance was the side patio is bigger than the XLR 420's. We were at OL the weekend after you (8/11-8/15). Heading back for a weekend in three weeks and then Disneyworld in December. Lots of miles on an SRW truck. Guess I'm living life on the edge. Rodney was actually at Ocean Lakes with us that week too. He was a big influence on the rv that we bought. We met another friend down there that bought an XLR 375amp around the same time as we did. I wish we were close enough to make a weekend trip to the beach, it's about a 13hr. drive for us.Re: DRW vs SRW Trucks lawnspecialties wrote: tmilicia wrote: I'm not really worried about "tow rating". As long as I'm under my axle and tire ratings, that's really all that matters to me. X2 Nice shots of the XLR. That first pic of the rig parked on the road is almost famous here on this forum. Looks like Ocean Lakes in the 2000 section as well. All those miles you've done and no problems? Maybe you're just a better driver than some. Thanks! I didn't know the pic of my XLR in front of my house was almost famous. Lol. That was the day I brought her home, the angle of that pic makes it look really big. That is Ocean Lakes in the pic, site 2008 to be exact. We were there the first week of August. We'll be back down there at PirateLand next August. So far I have 7k miles with the XLR behind me and I truly do enjoy pulling it. It's so much more stable than the 28' travel trailer we had before, must be due to the triple axle. The wind doesn't bother it and I don't know a semi is passing me until I see it beside me.Re: DRW vs SRW TrucksI'm not really worried about "tow rating". Pulls like a dream, even through the mountains from Ohio to Myrtle Beach. Rest Area on the way to Myrtle Gotta have a beach pic too!
