Reading some of the posts, I think I was getting a bit paranoid. ????Re: Goodyear Enduance vs Maxxis 8008So my Outback is brand new. It’s a 250urs. Dry weight, 5200#. I noticed that it has the Trailer King tires. We normally camp within an hour from our house. Once in a while we go to Branson, Mo, 110miles away. After taxes and license, wd hitch and essentials for the new trailer, 8 simply can not afford to go out buying new tires right away. How many miles are we talking about on the China Bomb tires? Can 8 get a season out of them?Re: Searching for first TT, have questions. We recently bought a Keystone Outback 250URS. This unit has a large horseshoe shaped dinette on a slide-out. The king bed bedroom is hard sided and slides out the back of the trailer. It has bunk beds at the front of the trailer with an exterior door that will allow for bikes or whatever to be stored in there once the lower bunk is lifted up and locked. View of the floor plan is available on Keystone’s website. So far, we love it. We camp with our 2 youngest grand children.Re: opinions? We recently had a 2015 Rockwood 27ks High-Wall pop-up. We had 2 pop-ups back in “the day” when the boys were young. Anyhow back to the most recent. The Rockwood had a king on one end and a queen on the other plus a large dinette on a slideout. It also had a hard wall shower/potty closet with full door that clipped in. It had water heater, microwave, 3-burner stove, fridge, furnace, stereo and a/c unit. Even the mattresses were heated. Oh, yeah. A complete slide-out outside kitchen. Yep! All in a pop-up. It had electric to raise the roof. Well, now, the rest of the story. After 2 trips camping and me being 66 years old (now), I said to the wifey, “this thing’s gotta go.” What a great, well equipped pop-up and by far the nicest one we ever owned, but, it’s gotta go. We sold it and bought a new 26’ travel trailer that our 1/2 Dodge pulls like a dream (using the weight distributing hitch). Pop-ups are for the young and agile. If you truly love the canvas bed idea for the open air feel, look into the hybrids like the Rockwood Roo series.Re: Several new to RVing questionsI had a 2001 Ford F-250 short bed with the 7.3 diesel. We pulled a 30ft 5th wheel with a single slide-out for miles and miles. Colorado, Texas and all over Missouri and Arkansas. No problem towing at all. Since I used my truck also for gooseneck trailers, I had the B & W turn-over gooseneck hitch installed under the bed of the truck. Then I purchased the B & W Companion 5th wheel converter hitch. It pivots side-to-side. I see now that they have the Companion in a slider model. Mine was not a slider. I had the dealer take off the standard pin box from the front of the trailer and install the extended one (made for short bed trucks). I never had any issue once I set the Companion to the proper height. We now have a 1/2 ton Dodge with a 25’ travel trailer. I’m into a whole new learning curve now.?? (we were out of rv’ing for over 10 years) I’m super stoked to be back.Re: Ready to buy a hybrid but which one and how?I wish I knew how to post pic on here that don’t automatically flip upside down, but I live on a hillside. I park my trailer next to my shop which is an even steeper grade and I have to miss a power pole. I usually turn around in my front yard (I live in the country and and about an acre front yard). Anyhow, I put my 1500 Dodge Ram in 4-low to back it up the hill. Oh, yeah. I also disconnect my hitch bars before I back up. It’s not bad, just inconvenient. Now as far as hybrids. That was my 1st choice as we’ve had 3 pop-ups. I’m 66, my wife’s 55 and neither of us wanted to do anything more with canvas bedrooms, but, we like the room that a hybrid gives you when folded out. The beds aren’t in there taking up floor space. I really like the Roo’s construction and that would have been my choice. However, we camp a lot with the grandkids. Another reason not to have cloth or screen or zippers which fascinate little minds. Also not to mention the lack of insulation and the constant battle with condensation like we had with the pop-ups. All this being said. We just purchased a 2018 Keystone Outback 250urs. It has bunk beds up front and a king size bedroom (rv king) that powered slides out the back of the trailer. The trailer’s dry weight is 5300#. My 1/2 tows it like a dream.
