All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsTop Travel Trailer BrandsWe are in the market for a new travel trailer. What would you say are the top brands. I am looking for a well built trailer with double wide bunk beds and under 30'. Would love a generator. Weight is not an issue. We have a 3/4 ton diesel. Thanks for your suggestions.Battery ExpertsI purchased two new 6 volt golf cart batteries from Costco. They are Interstate brand GC2-RD. 208 AH. Per the specs, it says that the absorption phase should be 7.65 volts. That would be 15.3 volts for both batteries tied in series. That seems really high. Should I set my solar charge controller to 15.3 for the acceptance charge or leave it at the 14.8 that I have it set at now? Thanks.Re: Legal to tow in freeway left lane?^^^ Now that is just lame. There is something called common sense...I don't think it is always used. If I were a LEO, I would understand the situation and not worry about it.Re: Remove air admittance valveOn my old trailer, when I had an issue with one of those valves, I simply put a plastic bag over it and used a rubber band to secure it to the pipe. For me, it was a test to see if it really was the valve that was letting an odor in. If, after a day or two, you still smell something, then you have a different problem. If the smell goes away then you know the valve is bad. It is a cheap and simple test.Re: House TP in TT?We usually only go out for weekend trips and have been using Kirkland (Costco) paper. I have recently noticed that the paper does not break up. We use plenty of water, and since we normally dry camp, we have to drive to the dump station before dumping. Even after the drive, when I watch what is coming out through the clear elbow, I see the paper coming out in whole clumps. Not broken down. Also, not all of it comes out. If I refill the tank and dump again, more paper comes out. I recently tested the paper in a jar of water and it stays together really good, even after 24 hours. Because of this, we just ordered some Scotts single ply. Will report back how it compares. I do believe that some brands dissolve a lot better than others. I have never had a clog with the Costco paper, but it has taken many rinses to get it all out.Re: Can Dicor be used as an adhesive??I thought that the flexible solar panels came with their own adhesive backing. Is this not the case? Is there no paper backing to peel off that exposes the sticky part? If not, I would look to see what the manufacturer of the panel says.Re: Stabilizer JacksNotice that most who hate electric stabilizers have never had them. Most who posted that they have them, including me, love them.Re: Solar helpI have installed two systems, both from AMSolar.com, on two different trailers. They sell high quality kits that come with everything you need. For our new trailer (2015 Jayco Jay Flight 26BHS), I just installed their SunRunner Signature 25MPPT/6/PRO Core kit with two 160 watt panels. The system works great. You can find it at http://www.amsolar.com/home/amr/page_196_68/sunrunner_signature_25mppt6pro_core.html. The nicest part is that this kit comes with a full battery monitor. It shows you charging rates, but best of all how many amps you have used and what percent charge your battery has. Very helpful information. Let me know if you have any questions. Also, the people at AM Solar are very helpful. Call them and ask any questions you may have. Just a note that at times they offer 20% off of the kits. You might try calling them and ask if they can do that for you now or if you need to wait for the offer.Re: Considering Purchasing a Used Travel TrailerSo often, people think they need to spend a lot of money to start a new hobby. This is not true. Have you ever camped before? you don't need a trailer to camp. Unless you are physically unable to do so, I would suggest getting a tent and trying that before you buy a trailer. It doesn't sound like you have much money. Invest the money you have...don't waste it on a trailer. You can have just as much fun camping with a tent as you can camping with a trailer. The best part of camping is sitting by the fire, going for a hike, fishing...a trailer is just something you sleep in. You can still come to this forum and talk to us about camping.Re: so..........how do yo know a good deal?A good deal is one you are happy with. There will always be someone who paid more and someone who paid less. Getting around 30% off of Manufacturer MSRP is what most shoot for.
