We boondock a lot; almost exclusively. We'd very much like to add more battery power to our rig. Does anyone know a way or have a proven method to do this? I would even sacrifice the spaced used by the generator to replace it with a "battery box" of some kind. Thanks, Steve confused!!!!!i ues you already answers in your question itelsf for extra power ull need a generator my friend.Re: savings in customizing a Ram ProMaster vs buying a Travato Terrenski wrote: Was curious what the cost might be to buy a Ram ProMaster van ( the one used to make Travatos) and have it custom finished as an rv, putting in just what you want. Saw one at a Fair today for $32,000 brand new and it got me thinking, if I wanted a simpler rv with a bed, table, portable toilet, etc, would that be cheaper to do then buying one with all the bells and whistles. If we used it more for weekends, etc, I don't see the need for all the kitchen appliances, cupboards, etc. Any ideas? First of all I would like to teel yu that try to get it with kitcehn and all other utilities. Coz my van also was for the weekend purpose, but one thing led to another and had to get a van with kitchen. So, better yet go with them and for the price, it depends on how much you want to cusotmise and waht things you pick and from where. Looking at your initial requiremnt, you are looking it at 18 to 20 G'sRe: Winter Storage Questions Big_Blue wrote: Great first season in our 2008 Winnebago Destination/DP. Alas, winter will be coming to soon here to Maine. Due to other obligations, its time to put the toys of summer away now. Winterizing the fifth wheel was easy. Drain the lines, put the pink in the lines, drive to winter storage location, remove battery and return in the spring. Class As are a wee bit more complex. The research that I have done is primarily focused on draining the lines and putting the pink in the lines. I get that. (I have located indoor winter storage for a reasonable rate. This opens the driveway up for safe snowblowing, et al.) What about the diesel fuel in the tank? Leave alone or add the winter additive? Fill the tank or ???? The batteries are another concern. All the research says to charge them up monthly. Which assumes that there will be unfettered access. Unfortunately, that will not be the case. The batteries will be fully charged when the rig is put into storage. What I'm thinking is to disconnect the house batteries from the coach. Setting the battery Aux Batt Switch to off. And return in the spring with a battery charger and good book to read while getting the charge back up to operational. For those of you who do long term storage over the winter. What have you done? What have you learned? What are the dos and don'ts? Tnx in Advance. I like your approach towards batteries, please dont chagre them everyh now and then. Kee p a figure in mind, for instacne if the battery is just 20% then only chagre it. and let it chagre it till its full. Dont take it out in between. Becasue there are lot of techncial issues whith charging the battery. I can explain in detail if you want. (let me know)..Re: CLASS A vs. CLASS C George2012 wrote: We are debating whether to buy a Class A or a Class C and are having trouble finding comparisons of the two to help with the decision. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! The biggest problem with class C is the leg space or rtaher the over all spce. For long legged people, please avoid it. Howveer, calss A is perfect for condition and for all sizes. The adjustable setas amkes the difference, so any person small or long can drive it. Class A go with Class A (just like me);)Re: No ac power from generator twainharteartist wrote: My generator is surging so I pulled the carb and cleaned it and checked the floats and needle valve. The generators engine was surging and I was getting 110 power till I pulled the carb. I checked all the brakers. I was getting 110 power to the micro wave and two of the plugs but not to the plugs to the TV up front and two of the plugs up front. I changed the main braker because it was bad. Now I can't get power to any of the 110 plugs. Any ideas? The first and the formost thing suggested is to turn off the main power switch and put it back on. make sure all other swithcer arre off as well. only on la swithc to make swure you have to power should be on. if it dosent work and then you my friend have to go circuit by circuit. chekc them individaully.. GFI can also be the factor.Re: bigger water pump MC9 wrote: Has anyone installed a higher capacity water pump ? Like about a 6.5 gpm. Did it help? Most of the new models have the in build pump and i guess what your are trhing might help woith water capacity the force fo the water wont be affected. The soze of the tank wont matter but this pump can give the wtaer that can do the job no too fast or too slow.Re: Changing speakers colliehauler wrote: I bought 4 new 6.5" speakers to replace the cheep ones that came with the unit. They cut the holes so large there in nothing to mount the speakers to. I will have to make some adapters in order to use the new speakers. Another it was to be a 10 min job. I already had to pull new speaker wires because they had the right channel 2 speakers in the living area and the left channel 2 speakers in the bedroom. haha.. looks like you have everything in control there mate.. Still stick to 4 ohm speakers and i am sure ull come up with a way to fit them in., Or use a cardbord and color it as the door color and stick it over and fit the speakers.Re: 110v Residential fridge installI guess you have made the right choice, and the power numbers you have choosen makes perfect sense. I am glad you had it done and it working for you. Came here loking for something near to you, but now I have the idea what to do..Re: Truck and 5th Wheel under $25,000 Possible? kobesunset wrote: Hey guys, I'll be moving back to the United States from overseas. Was wondering what your thoughts are on getting a truck and 5th wheel within a $25,000 budget (used okay). Would like both truck and 5th wheel to be 14 years or younger. Biggest fear: Buying something with a lot of (expensive) problems. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this Well I guess today the amrket for truck is much higher compared to a decade ago. People love trucks, now if mroe trucks are sold, aI dont see you having a problem fidings the trucks at the price range. Howveer, you might need a lot of searching or some contacts who can get a truck in good condition and who requires less maintenence. In case if you find it make sure the basics are fine. Coz buying for cheap and then spendign thousnds to get to done just dosent make sense.Re: Thinking of getting an RV - lots of questionsTo get an RV is like a dream come true for many people and seems that you alwys have planned to ghet an RV. It can be a great family vehicle. Normally RV requires speical permit licsne, however it sometiems also depends on the size of the RV your are choosing. The generators and battreis for RV are very high performance, and I would recomend it be OFF. If you are in a movie and if some fault occurs in the generator, you never know what is going to happen. Moreover , the battries this days are of very high perfromance and they last for very long. Keeping the RV offd while not around is recommended.
