Take a good look at how lightweight the connection is at the camper. Tiedowns are only as strong as the weakest points.Re: Custom/DIY Truck Camper Tie DownsBelly bar clamped to the frame for the front. Tubing run through the frame cross member at the wheel well for rear.Re: Truck alternatorsWell said bwlyon. Very accurate response.Re: Bringing extra fresh water. If you are worried about contamination, add one capful of bleach to each 20 gallons of water. Not enough to affect the taste, but enough to kill bacteria.Re: Starting batteries instead of deep cycleI find that the easiest thing on my batteries is to use a French press coffee maker.Re: This is what happens when you have too much tongue weight...The front tie-down comes near the frame where it is bent if the picture is real. They may have improperly drilled or even welded a tie down to the frame which would have weakened the frame there. It is a possibility.Re: This is what happens when you have too much tongue weight...Why would any drivers sit in the driver's seat as though he was going to continue down the road? How did the bottom of the box not touch the bottom of the cab corner in a bending position like that? And how could you drive it without modifications did the drive shaft because I wouldn't line up with the rear end? Too many variables for me to believe. Out thereRe: Downloading at CampgroundIf you are going to leave it on all the time you might consider a motorhome.Re: Downloading at CampgroundI normally unload so I can launch the boat in the morning and in the evening to go fishing. That way my wife doesn't have to leave camp each time.
