The drive is quite slow so don’t expect to make any fast parts of your trips. The road though is quite safe as most of the vehicles travel at a proper speed for the road conditions. You will probably also encounter lots of cyclists along the route also. Going south you are on the ocean side of the road and able to find lots of pullouts provided some yahoos as previously posted are not using the pullouts as permanent parking areas. What a poor way for RVer’s to operate. Enjoy your trip it is certainly one of the most beautiful parts of the west coast.Re: Astoria,OR to Florence OR CA Traveler wrote: X2 Pull off at the view spots. We'll be in Florence Mon and have dinner reservations at Waterfront Depot. Great choice of a place to eat, on our trips we have never been disappointed at Waterfront DepotHot water tank drain plugHi everyone, hope that all is well with each of you out there. Due to some emergency brain surgery a month ago, our camping season sadly has come to an abrupt end. We are in the process of cleaning out and winterizing the 5er for winter storage. While I was draining the hot water tank, I got to thinking there must be a better way than having to remove this hard to get at plastic plug ever year to drain the tank. I thought that I had heard of some types of plugs with a flexible pipe on them and a valve at the end that can just be opened and the tank drained without removing the plastic plug. Any one have or seen or know if such a thing exists? Won’t need it this year. But years into the future if my health allows and we can continue RVing we would like to use this type of arrangement at seasons end.Re: Winter storageWe had an Adco cover on our unit for almost 9 seasons before it failed. It was purchased at Camping World while travelling in The US at the time. The cover was quite easy to install and take off as long as it was folded up properly when removed at the end of the storage season. We have quite a bit of snow here and we were able to remove snow with the cover in place as long as care was taken.Re: ..Last year I changed my bathroom vent fan to the Hengis Vortex 11 fan. It can be installed from the inside and does not require removal of your existing roof vents and covers. It works very well and has both forward and reverse speeds, great for bathroom use and showering. There are many you tubes about the Hengis Vortex fan and its installation. The comment about using the super fan while flushing is well taken, it can pull fumes right out of the black tank Not that pleasant an experience at all.??Re: Furnace not Wanting to start properly Old-Biscuit wrote: When Thermostat Closes......does the furnace fan come ON? The furnace was reluctant to start this year when the trailer came out of hibernation, but eventually did start and we used it a few times. As of last week it does not start or blow heat at all. If you put the temperature range slidy bar to the highest setting the furnace appears to want to start but shuts off again after a few minutes without producing any heat. This occurs when on shore power or 12 volt. I don’t believe that the T stat is the problem as the air conditioner and all the fans start up and operate as normal. It is almost 100 degrees here now in the Okanagan so the furnace not running is not that significant. However later in the summer and fall the furnace starting and operating properly will definitely be a must. Any one else have this situation and what were your remedies? Thanks MorleyRe: Hwy 12 in Utah between Torrey and Bryce -- amazing! Before we went to Utah in 2013 we had heard about the hog back and how perilous it was. We drove over it going from Bryce to Torrey and enjoyed it immensely, beautiful scenery and not frightening at all. Glad that we could see it one of the highlites of the trip.Re: CA Redwoods Area for a 42' FWAncient Redwoods RV Park in Redcrest, right on the Avenue of Giants. Stayed there twice on Redwood Trips. Great park, easy access, friendly and helpful owners. Right in the middle of everything that you may want to see.Re: BAttery replacement.I use 2 Trojan T-105’s and they perform well for 6 to 7 years if treated properly and you have a good converter.
