We spent more than we originally planned, but God is good and we're extremely happy and excited. It's loaded, too. Laramie, leather, 5th prep, air suspension, ... all the "tow" things. Click For Full-Size Image. Gorgeous truck brother. Can't beat a BRAND NEW 3500 SRW 4x4 diesel. They even remembered to spec the cab lights. Many happy miles of towing ahead - you got a beast. Out of interest, both trand/tunes work great but are you Aisin or 68RFE?Re: Buying a leftover 2019 Chevy or GMC 3500Yes, you should be able to get 15-20% off a new 2019 GM HD making them a good buy, especially as the dependable Duramax continues unchanged. I will say this: I can understand you ruling out the hideous 2020 Chevy, but the 2020 GMC HD looks fantastic. And the 10-speed auto plus updated weight ratings will be a boon for towing....Re: Nitto Terra Grappler or Ridge Grappler?Have not tried the Ridge but I like the Terra Grappler and have put hundreds of thousands of miles on the version one and now the G2 version. Very reliable tire, in D or E range depending on your size of truck. GoodYear Wrangler Duratracs are another bit of rubber I rate highly and would be my choice if you often work out of muddy job sites or fields.Re: Diesel vs gas...................... City of Pasadena, the Mobil at the corner of Foothill and Sierra Madre just off the 210 freeway is one, but there are too many to list in LA County. $4.09 currently which is less than all gas.Re: Which diesel engine oil.Shell T6 Rotella 5W40 for my diesels.Re: Diesel vs gas...................... BigToe wrote: At some fuel stations in California, diesel has ticked up to $1.00 (99 cents) per gallon higher than 87 octane regular unleaded gas. (Spring 2019) "Some" being the operative word. Maybe it's different in NorCal, but if you know where to look, diesel is priced +/- 20 cents of 87 across Southern California from he dozens of stations I drive past daily. Where I fill up weekly it's 10 cents less, for instance. Now, there's always the one scumbag that charges it a buck more....but then that goes for unscrupulous gas stations that do the same with 87/89/91 to compared to others.Re: Oil change SHOCK Crambo wrote: My dealer wants 300 bucks just to change the two fuel filters. Buying them online they are around $125 for the set. Throw in an oil change and the labor and that sounds about right. That’s why I change both fuel filters myself. Takes about 20 minutes. $125 for two fuel filters? It should be a quarter of that for OEM.Re: Vintage RAM.... what to do?Keep the 04, the def free urea free engines will run forever with good maintenance. You've owned her from new. I'd just get an interior detail, change ALL fluids (yourself) and fit a Jake brake, bigger rotors (possibly go to 18" wheels) and add new shocks (5100s). You'll fall back in love again!Re: Ford or Dodge ShinerBock wrote: I have a few family members that put well over 300k on 6.0L diesels. One was bullet proofed and the other tuned after the warranty was up. I would take a 6.0 between the those two especially since it is a 2006 and most of the issues with the 6.0L were resolved by then. 100% agree. The 05 and newer 6.0s are great trucks and have a far higher GVWR than GM or Dodge's of the same vintage. V strong 5 speed auto too. My 06 is stock and has 220k on it. Nothing but routine maintenance and a few wear and tear parts. Just change the engine, trans and coolant fluids when you get her. I'll admit maybe I got lucky- but I know fair few people who "got lucky" tooRe: Contemplating the 2017 Platinum F350 4x4ord wrote: transferred wrote: 4x4ord wrote: desiphil wrote: Just traded in a 2015 Chevy 3500 SRW on a 2017 F-350 DRW. It drives nice. Prior to buying my Ford I looked at the GM. I thought the GM drove nice. When I told the GM salesman what I could get a Ford Platinum for she said she honestly couldn't sell me a used GMC Denali For that price. You should have been able to trade straight across.:) Were you taking about your '16 or the NBS '17s? If the latter, that's v surprising. March of 2016. Thanks. That makes sense. Was some great deals to be had on the OBS Super Duties last year. I've always gotten better deals on GMs and Cummins than Fords with one exception--- back during the market crash I had a brand new black 2008 F250 PSD FX4 for 20k off of MSRP. Man it was such a hard deal to pass up but I needed a 1-ton. To get back on topic- the '17s are tremendous and if you have the means I'd make the jump.
