It is the house breaker popping, NOT a GFCI I have tried different outlets on different breakers, they both tripped when RV Shore is plugged in. Other items work fine in the outlets I test and on the circuit so it definitely has something to do with the RV. I'm editing this because I just went out and tested. I'm remember a little basic electronics and watched a youtube to test continuity. So when i touch the prongs on the shore plug I'm getting continuity with them. When I touch the positive and neutral, the positive and ground, or the neutral and ground the circuit goes from OL to .4 to 1.2 ohms. So that means I have a short in that line somewhere, is that correct?Re: Need some help, shore power tripping breaker/buzzingI think the buzzing is coming from the panel in the house, it's right in the garage and I open the door so I can hear it.Re: Need some help, shore power tripping breaker/buzzingWell, I swapped out the end plug tonight and still have the same problem. Unfortunately the cable is hard wired into my fifth wheel, it's not a male/female removable plug. So next I guess I have to trace it up to the next connection and look for shorts. It would have to be between the shore end plug and the inverter right? Because if ALL of the breakers in the RV are off, including the main breaker, it would have to be between where I'm plugging it in and the box?Need some help, shore power tripping breaker/buzzingMy fifth wheel has been sitting all winter and I just pulled it out to set it up for some friends who are staying over for the weekend. We cleaned it out, plugged it in, everything was fine. Then all of a sudden the circuit (HOUSE circuit, not RV circuit) tripped. Now when I try to plug it in I hear an audible and frightening buzz and the breaker trips in about a second. What's really odd is that I turned off ALL the RV breakers and it still does it. SO does that mean something is wrong with the shore plug? I used a different extension cord, heavy duty and shorter, and a different house circuit and the same thing. So if the breakers are off and just plugging the cord into shore power trips the shore breaker I'm thinking that there must be a short in the shore plug connector, it's a little loose feeling and the bottom isn't very tight, separation between outer jacket and inner jackets of the wires/plug. Could that cause this problem? Going to try replacing that but though I would check in with the experts here. :) ThanksRe: 2 Blowouts, different tires, different axles, 1 hour apartYeah, I've pretty much had a moron moment. I realize I was mistaken, in the last year I had my truck tires replaced and my RV rims (1 of the factory steel rims rusted through). My tires are actually about 3 years old. We've been travelling around the U.S. those three years and they're just worn down too much. It's odd they blew on the same day, but if the tire was old and was taking extra pressure from the spare being Load D or just the stress of driving 2 slow miles on 3 tires to get off the 95, it seems plausible. Bad road, under inflated, extra load, older tire... it all adds up. The only problem is that I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere and the guy only has Hi Runs. Nothing much I can do about it. Putting on 4 new Hi Runs, 10 ply. They're new and price isn't terrible. So we'll see how it goes. I had a real mental lapse with these tires. When I got the rims last year I was thinking I got rims and tires but my wife corrected me and I checked the receipt. I didn't get tires because my Maxxus tires still looked good and I never had any problems with them. They just reached the end of their life I suppose. It's actually amazing how good the tread looks considering we've been driving them around the country for 3 years. Must easily be 50k miles on them and they still have some decent tread (the 2 that didn't blow on me). When I said driving at 70 I mean psi, not mph. I usually run around 65mph on interstate although I do get up to 70 sometimes. Also, I can't afford the weight reduction for LT's. I thought about it last time but we have been living/travelling and we just can't afford that much weight reduction. We're just below max and there isn't much we can get rid of. I guess when I got new rims I should have gotten 16's. I didn't want to do tires at the time and do jump to 16's you have to do it all at once. It was, and still is, a financial decision. Can't buy new rims again so I'm stuck at 15, but I am also sticking with the 10 ply (E's). So lessons learned today: 1. Keep tires inflated to max 2. Keep better track of when you need new tires 3. Keep the speed down to 65 when towing Tires are getting mounted now, at the local library while the kids do school and I check in on some work. Should be back on the road in a little bit.Re: 2 Blowouts, different tires, different axles, 1 hour apartWe're been travelling the better part of a year without any trouble and we haven't added any extra weight. It would be weird for them to go now all of a sudden. I'll check the tire code and see the actual age of the tire. It's possible that when the one tire went and I put on the spare that we overloaded the other side. That tire blew out, I heard it go. My tires are E rated buy my spare was D rated. When I bought new tires I had them use the best of my old ones (an older D rated Towmax) as my spare. I guess that could have shifted weight over to the other side. I thought I should be at 70psi, but I looked and it seems they should be around 85 (although I've been driving at 70 for a long time). I'll need to weigh again. We've been out for a long while and we've probably bought a few things, some games, some clothes, etc, etc over the last year that could have bumped us up. I'll go through a weigh station. Right now I need to get these tires fixed, we're stuck in Summerton, SC right now. I can't go anywhere. I'm just afraid of spending a bunch of money on new tires and then blowing them right out again when I hit the road. The road WAS very rough. It's I-95 heading north from the SC border. I told my wife it was weird how much rubber was on the road. It looks like a lot of tires on the side of the road as we're driving, a lot more than usual. It was interstate so it's nothing crazy, no dirt roads or anything, but for an interstate it was a pretty rough ride. I suppose that's possible also.Re: 2 Blowouts, different tires, different axles, 1 hour apartCould axles that haven't been greased in a long while possibly cause this?2 Blowouts, different tires, different axles, 1 hour apartI am driving on the 95 North today through South Carolina. We got a honking horn next to us, someone telling us our tire was flat. I pulled over and we were pretty flat but not blown out. I pulled over and changed the tire to my spare (full size) tire. About an hour later we're driving on same road, the OTHER axle OTHER side of the trailer we got a blowout?!?! These are nice MAXXUS tires, less than a year old. Tires have tons of tread and seem like they're in great shape. I figure I got a nail or something in the one and slow leaked (all though I couldn't find anything). Any idea what could cause 2 tires on different axles on different sides of the trailer both blowout an hour apart? I saw lots of rubber on the road but this was a long distance apart and it didn't happen in one spot where there could have been road hazards, it was 60 miles apart. I was driving about 60, I had just checked air pressure after fixing first flat so other tires were at 70psi. I haven't added any weight, if anything I just got rid of a few things that would have brought me down a hundred pounds or so. It's baffling me!RV Park near Port of Miami w/ short term storageMy family and I are travelling in FL last month and this month. We've booked a cruise leaving in a couple of week. The port of miami parking looks like a nightmare in addition to charging you $40/day for your RV. Does anyone know of an RV park within a reasonable distance that has storage. If something was in distance to take a cab that would be fantasic, but even if I have to unhitch and store my 5er and then drive my truck in and park at an offsite place that would be fine too.Re: Dr Campo at Baja PerioLaser, anyone have experience?I called and verified with U.S. Periolase manufacturer and Dr. Alejandro is a certified and trained practitioner of the LANAP surgery. I called his office and we have an appt for the initial evaluation. His price is half of what U.S. practioners charge and if you know what LANAP costs, that's pretty good. My wife is a little freaked out about going to Tijuana. Los Algodones is very calm and safe and Tijuana's reputation the last few years isn't so hot. However, the office is 3 miles from the border right near Teniente Guerrero Park. A pretty nice part of the city and not far from the freeway. I've also read things have calmed down a lot in Tijuana, that the Cartels have some sort of "truce" right now and the open violence has subsided. It will be the middle of the day also. Right across the border, right to the doctor's office, then right home. Has anyone been to Tijuana recently, how did it seem? We used to go all the time when we lived in Orange County but that was over 10 years ago, a different time.
