In simple terms when you "turn on" your PC it (computer) looks for the reader to see if it is there and ready. When "you put" the SD card in the reader it sends an interrupt to the computer saying "look at me". Sounds to me like the interrupt signal is not always recognized by the computer and not a simple fix unless you are a tech. I really wanted to continue using Firefox but memory usage was out of site. What I did. click on tools / options / scroll down to performance uncheck hardware acceleration / change processor limit to 2. cut my memory usage from over 1GB to 400/500 MB no noticeable changes in performance that I could tell. I did not see where the sending unit has been replaced or tested with another gauge and sending unit.
