I told the officer that we had just blown the motor ,so we where not going to be driving anywhere.. he then said he could charge us with drinking in a public place.. told him we where in our place of residence as we had a bed and fridge in the back and where drinking inside the van and not outside... He then asked if we would like him to call us a tow truck, which we agreed … and he left...Re: diesel class cthe new diesels do have a lot more emissions on them for sure. the def is just part of it. I work on a bunch of Mercedes sprinters and they are not cheep to repair, or maintain. Some if they sense any sort of problem they go into a derate mode (limp) and you may get 20mph out of it if your lucky, other have to be put into regen mode to burn out the cat which can take over an hour to run. I have been thinking of pulling out the 460ci in our motorhome and putting in a pre 1980s diesel without all the emissions on it .. some places can also do some of the emission deletes as well to remove the DEF and the EGR that causes some of the unwanted engine shut downs..Re: Onan Gen--hard starting and surgingIf it has sat for quit a while, best bet is to pull the carb off and get a container of the really good carb cleaner from napa or auto zone.. the one I got was marked professional use only, as it will dissolve plastic and rubber parts and wear rubber gloves, hard on skin.. like paint stripper.. there should be and adjustment for the idle mix on the carb you could try tweeking that a bit as well. Not sure if yours has an auto choke pull off from vacuum or not, mine is a heater type pull of so it takes a bit of messing about to get it right as well as it takes about 2 min to completely pull off when first started and runs a bit lumpy. ours is the original gen set in out 1977 motorhome ..Re: Electronic failures, PCB repairs.I have found a lot of times the larger parts like relays when the boards are wave soldered do not have enought solder on the leads and do crack the joint over time from heat/cool cycles and vibration, all common in motorhomes.Re: Class C rear end sag and banging! Our 1977 26 foot e-class ford had firestone 5000lb air bags in the back to help.. due to there age I replaced them with a set of PacBrake and it makes a big difference in the ride and the ride level as wellRe: Emergency roadside assistanceThe company I work for we do a lot of road side calls, and on of out biggest problems we are now facing is some of the fifth wheels/ travel trailers we cannot put on a flat deck due to the height, and even putting on a low boy they wont clear bridges.. This has become a big problem when you get broken springs and or axles. We have had to come up with a few creative ways to get some off to a service center.Re: Workhorse 8.1 GM exhaust gasket replacementI find the easiest thing is to use the torch and blow the nut off flush with the manifold, then remove the manifold, then you can remove the studs from the head,, most of the studs now are 8mm, trying to undo them you are more than likely to break them off, then get new studs and nuts.. as they are cheep insurance...Re: No Power from house batteries in class C Four winds 2004 ?check the ground of the house battery make sure its good then follow the positive wire back to the fuse panel and see where you loose power
