Thanks for posting here and in the other forum. Bruce What He said! I don't go to the other forums so I would have never seen this. What's the big deal? More has gone into this post about double posting then the original informative post. Maybe if anything the Moderators will delete the nonsense.Re: Crossing Lukeville/Sonoyta Information msgtord wrote: Ajo is not a speed trap. SR 85 goes through the middle of town and the local residents do not appreciate your total disregard for the safety of others. I agree! Not that Russ is wrong, he posted some very valuable information. As anyone that has driven through Ajo knows that State Route 85 goes through not just a part of town but right through a residential area of Ajo. Very poor planning but that was very long ago and who know Rocky Point would ever be larger then Ajo. The Pima County Sheriffs Department and Arizona Department of Public Safety are all Ajo has, unlike Sonoyta which has their own corrupt local PD. In either case Russ has outlined what needs to be done when jacked up by Sonoyta's finest. As for Ajo, Don't speed through or you will get a ticket, and you will NOT have the luxury of paying cash to the officer and continue on your way.Re: UPDATE Theft insurance info--first hand attn Canadians! Canadian Rainbirds wrote: And yet another thread gone south. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa OFF TOPIC. I will no longer post my insurance problems/results updates on this thread since they will be buried in crap. I may or may not post the results in this forum. There are others, and our blog page. Sad but true with the usual suspects. :(Re: Things changing for the better mexicoruss wrote: I have been a very busy tour guide in Puerto Peñasco.....All of last year was solid and I am booked through March so far this year. I work with the whole traveling community not just Rvers but I have a group coming in February of 12 or so rigs and another in March of 27 rigs and add to that the number of people traveling down here for the first time, the numbers don't lie. We leave that to the fear mongers and hyperactive media. I had a group of Canadians here last week that said the more they heard the old folks in Phoenix bashing Mexico and "don't go you'll die" or whatever blather they were spewing, they said the more they heard, the less they wanted to be like them and the negative people actually made it so the Canadians wanted to come here even more! We had a blast together for the few days they were here. They are planning on a return trip in March and a possible purchase of a beach retreat. Sorry naysayers, if you are happy staring at Fox news all day and afraid to leave your "safe" community, that's ok with us. Just don't forget that as we get older we often feel regret for not doing things that we should have done when we were younger. And your reason that as a tour guide in Mexico you find it necessary to visit an RV forum is for what? to build up your business? Get more customers? Or just to tell the world that your business is doing great and that you want everyone here to call the phone number posted to schedule a tour with you? What's next, resorts posting the drink specials here? Russ, can you sell some little red Chile lights to put on our awnings so you will have something here about RV's?Re: Puerto Peñasco Helicopter Gunship ActionMK2, Actually 2 fishermen were in a black truck that got shot up and they died. A completely different story from those that were in the condos that got shot up.Re: Puerto Peñasco Helicopter Gunship ActionJust curious about your restrictions on who posts here as you put it: of nonsense drivel from people who never go to Mexico. But you never go to Rocky Point and you are just as of nonsense drivel from a person who never goes to Rocky Point. Just saying.Re: Puerto Peñasco Helicopter Gunship ActionMEXICOWANDERER Quote: "This post is NOT intended to spark a bunch of nonsense drivel from people who never go to Mexico" I'm curious if you are a frequent visitor to Rocky Point?Re: Puerto Peñasco Helicopter Gunship ActionI go to Rocky Point and El Golfo a few times a year but I was not on location when this happened. Many say that this happens all the time in the US. I don't agree. It is not the same as what many want to compare it to a lone shooter in a movie theater or a wack job that shoots a school yard up. This is organized crime and the government having to resort to using military personnel and equipment to attempt to control their actions. Without a spin and discounting the danger in any area where military action is deployed can someone really say it is safe to so to this area where this action is likely to repeat the same events again? I know that if the military was deployed in the US to resolve an issue of this magnitude in a tourist destination I would not return until I knew for a fact that the bad element was positively removed with no likelihood of their return.Re: EL Golfo Mx.The CRA resort is the only one with utilities, security, pool, and coin operated laundry rooms. I have stayed at this location about half a dozen times and we have enjoyed each time we have gone. If you are in the area you might check to see if you can stay without being a CRA member as I have seen others in the park that are not members.Re: Stay out of Rocky Point! It's not the violence e that's the issue, it is how the Mexican government utilized the military and their weaponry in a tourist community. And as stated in the FIRST post: I would stay out UNTIL the air clears. Do you not expect any retaliation? I know if the same was done in Sedona you would not catch me there for a few weeks for sure! As for those that seem it ok to make personal attacks at me for posting up to date warning of CURRENT actions being taken, you might want to read the rules of the forum.
