The coach will spend a lot more time with the tire stationary then rolling even if you full time in the rig. Shop floor plan first and then look at the chassis and what size the tires might be.Re: How to Restore Old Fiberglass TC&Z wrote: I searched and could not find anything.... Our MH is 16 yrs old. It is white fiberglass with decals. All the decals are ruined from sun exposure on one side so they have been removed. I want to restore the fiberglass before applying new decals. Nothing seems to work. It is thin layer of fiberglass laminated to luan. Using an orbital polisher I have tried polishing compound, Maguaris One Step 67, others, no luck. Any suggestions? If I am able to get the fiberglass white again (like the areas where the decals were) then what polish or product should I use to restore the shine, the original luster? Not confident that wax alone will do this? Thanks, trying to take care of her.... You'll never get the fiberglass back to the white and as everyone has mentioned waxes and such are a lot of work with little long term return for aged gelcoat fiberglass. For my 2006 coach I used the white shadow for the decals to mask off and paint. Once the paint was set I use Zep for top coat shine. Lasts a year and a deep clean and reapplication each spring restores the shine. The red is paint while the others are still decals. Re: Where are my spark plugs? Found them....They are in one of the many boxes of stuff that came with the coach. Probably in the same box as the carburetor along with the distributor and spark plug wires. You'll need them also. Besure to clean them real good and set the gap before puttin them in. They're factory originals and should still be good. That factory stuff lasts a long time. And don't forget to lineup all them timing marks when you install the distributor.Re: Inverter Upgrade BigDaddy1951 wrote: ,,, How hard would it be to power all the 15 and 20 amp breakers on the load center? Just want to power the outlets, possibly the microwave.,,, Not too difficult but depending on how complex you make it a second ATS (inverter/load center feed) and a sub panel might be needed. When I did mine I only powered two outlet circuits so two simple 120VAC double pole double pole relays rated for 15 amp service were all I needed. Easy route for me was a pair of Xantrex relays that are in the power feed from the load center to the first outlet in the circuit. If the inverter is on and power is lost the relays switch to feed the loops with 120VAC from the inverter. Amazon - Xantrex PROwatt SW Auto Transfer SwitchRe: leveling blocksI make my pads from 6" x 5/4" decking cut to 12" lengths. My focus is to make for a larger area to help distribute the coach weight and prevent damaging the campsite. I think I've used them maybe three or four times over the past ten camping seasons. Most of my travels been state and federal camp grounds the gravel sites that have all been hard packed from many years of usage and not needing landing pads. Had one one stay at a commercial CG that required landing pads. Wood pads cost me about $15 for a set of four cut from a 16' decking board. Re: DP weird design "feature"?One of the reason I refer to 12VDC and the life blood on a rig. You can get by without 120VAC but not so much without 12VDC.Re: Front grill filterThe grill in my rig is a 1/2 square grid that will whistle at around 50 MPH. The fix was to disrupt the air flow thru the grill with window screen material. As an added bonus I have yet to need to clean the insect carcasses out of the radiator sandwich. No noticeable loss of cooling of the power train or loss of dash A/C performance. Re: 1967 Travco 270 440 to Cummins 8.3 UpgradeInteresting idea but it reads like shoe horning a Corvette C4 power train into a 1972 Vega. You'll turn heads but it will have a bit of a Frankenstein Monster if it comes alive. You might be better off finding a late model low mileage GM diesel pickup to use as a donor. And you'll need the entire truck to make the conversion. Fuel system, engine/trans electronics, gauges, antitheft and such. An insurance auction truck that was tee boned would be a perfect donor.Re: Month/Year of MfrThor built rigs will have a sticker at the driver's left sidewall with on and off assembly line dates. The Ford incomplete vehicle stick has the chassis dates. Personally I wouldn't worry about it. My 2006 was thrown together in the middle of the housing bobble when everyone was flush with cash thru refinancing their homes and buying flashy toys and my build dates seem to confirmation of my speculation. April chassis build completed and the coach leaves the Four Winds factory in June two moths later. Even being a repo my rig has been pretty easy to maintain and has never had me headed home early. My one break down I fixed the next day in the driveway. Re: F53 Hitch update. spcorvette wrote: ,,, The body builders always seem to install a generic #5000 hitch, even if the capacity is higher. They do that because if they put a 10K hitch on a coach that can't tow that much weight someone, actually may someones, will attempt to tow 10K because that's the number on the hitch so that must be the limit for the coach.
