This spring I replaced the failed Dometic OEM with an 8 cubic foot residential fridge, and have been happy with it. Everything stays cool for the distances I am driving. However, I want a generator to pair with the fridge on the rare occasion I am towing the unit for a day or more. I am thinking it might be prudent to have one that will run both the AC and the fridge when there is no shore power. I have doubts that either the Honda or Yamaha combos will be enough. Looks like you have to go all the way to 5500W to do much better, there doesn't seem to be much available in between. Anyone have any experience with this set up, or recommendations?Re: Have You Installed a Residential Fridge and Inverter in TT?Thanks for the link Gdetrailer! Muchos gracias to all for your input.Re: Have You Installed a Residential Fridge and Inverter in TT?I appreciate the responses. Was looking at this solution for my battery storage, if two 12-volts would be enough. Was thinking of starting out with 2 new batteries. Considered this box if I went over to 6 volt. Not sure I want to buy 4 new batteries for what I need to accomplish. Truck is still charging TT battery while traveling. Have also considered adding the inverter without replacing the converter/charger. Not sure that I've seen one that impresses me much, though.Have You Installed a Residential Fridge and Inverter in TT?I have decided replace my failed Dometic RM2652 RV fridge with a residential unit. I have found and ordered a replacement (Summit F882W) that fits my space (after removing an upper shelf); have removed the old unit, capped off the gas supply, and cleaned up the space. Now I am just awaiting delivery. My rig is a 2007 Sunset Creek with two slides. Since this is a unit that we set up and leave in one spot for two or three months at a time, and never dry-camp, having an inverter/battery set-up is not essential. I am usually at my destination within 4 hours or 5 max. However, it would be nice to have the unit cooling while we travel and have the luxury of making stop-overs at the rest area. I am looking at a Tripp-Lite MRV2012UL PowerVerter to replace my stock converter (2000 watts continuous inverter power), but I am not sure how exactly to wire it. Also, how many batteries do I need? Do I have to go with a 6-volt bank, or can I function with two 12-volt batteries? Has any of you modified a travel trailer for this kind of set-up? ThanksRe: Electric Landing Legs (front jacks) Intermittent FailureUPDATE: Thought the battery connection was the problem, but apparently not so. Legs work consistently in the RETRACT position. Dead as a wedge in the EXTEND position. Do I assume it is a defective switch? Or some gremlin in the motor works?Re: Electric Landing Legs (front jacks) Intermittent FailureBruce, I think you have the answer. I checked the connections more closely, and while they were hand-tight on a wing-nut "snug," they weren't "tight," especially on the negative pole. Considering that the landing gear motor is wired directly to the battery, this would account for the intermittent nature of the failure, and why the motor would start to work again after "resting" for a while. ThanksElectric Landing Legs (front jacks) Intermittent FailureI've searched around the forum and haven't seen anything that quite matches my problem. Unit is a 2007 K-Z fifth-wheel, and the landing legs work and sometimes they don't. Has occurred twice in the last month, while extending the legs to hook up. I work the jacks, and then go to back the truck up, and when I get back to do some more adjustment, there is no power...no moan, no groan (except from me), just no go. Battery is fully charged and connections are good. First time it happened I waited awhile and then it started working again. A couple of weeks ago the same thing took place and I had to get out the manual crank. It was several days went by and I tried it and it was working again! Don't know where to start or what to think about it. Doesn't sound like a fuse or a breaker, and the motor works fine when it has power. Just don't want to get out and get stuck with having to manually crank the thing again.
