Janegowest, To answer your original question, we just ordered a new fifth wheel and one of the things that was on our "must have list" was a dining table on the door side of the camper. Sitting at the table and looking out at the neighbors sitting around their campsite is not what I want to do. Keith, My setup is almost identical to what you are considering. I have a 2012 GMC 2500 6.0 with 4:10 gears and I tow a 35' FW. My GCW is 18,200 lb. We took a 2700 mile trip this fall from NY to Tennessee and N Carolina and averaged right at 8 mpg towing. The only time I really would have liked to have more truck was when we crossed the mountains between Chattanooga and Asheville. I was down to 30 mph on the steepest grades. Also could have used more engine braking on the long downhill runs. (Having never owned a diesel I'm not sure how much better they are.) I had an intermittent 12V short that drove me crazy. Turned out to be a light circuit wire that was wrapped around the metal bed slide frame and was getting squashed when the slide was in. My old Flagstaff travel trailer had a galley tank dump valve under the slideout. It was a PITA to crawl under the slide to hook up a hose if we were parked in the same location for an extended time. I bought a short sewer hose (4 ft) and would put it on the cleanout before opening the slideout.88Views0likes0Comments
