The last 2 rigs I have owned, I replaced them with a wet kit that had bronze bushings and they have serviced me well. I have been reading about the newer never fail bushings and other options such as a nylon bushing and greasable pins. I am looking for recommendations from those with real world experiences. This rig will likely travel 5,000+ miles per year. I should probably replace the equalizer while I am at it so, thoughts on that would also be welcome.Interior refinishingI have searched this topic and got no results. I am rebuilding/restoring a Lil Bigfoot 11' trailer. It is very similar to a Boler. The existing wood paneling and cabinet doors are needing help. I could rebuild with real wood or I could paint the existing. Wood would be the traditional choice and painting could give it a more modern feel. I would like to get opinions as to each option as well as why you would choose that option.Re: Shop4seatsI had a jack-knife couch and cushions for a dinette made by them about 6 years ago. The quality is good and the products are still in good condition. We generally live in our rig about 8 months every year so, much more use than a weekender.landing gearI have been working on a neighbors 5th wheel landing gear. He broke the original plastic gear box and has a new metal one that fits fine. The trouble is, it is nearly impossible to lift the trailer manually. The new gearbox is a 3:1 ratio. I do not know what ratio the original was. Does anyone know if there are different ratios available for these gearboxes? I have searched and it is nearly impossible to find any reference to the gear ratio on these replacements.Re: double towingIt may be a 'qualified' legal in California. That is what I am trying to determine.Re: double towing Wadcutter wrote: roy67ss wrote: I am reading several places that this may not quite be true as it applies to double towing in California, and possibly some eastern states, be it commercial or RV. Many sites insist that you must have a commercial drivers license with doubles endorsement to tow a double trailer setup in California no matter where you come from and what is ok there for this combination. I am looking for legal clarification not, what you have gotten away with while pulling thru Ca. I am sure lots of us would like to know. Wherever you're reading that from doesn't even make sense if anyone even thinks about it just a bit. Think about it. If you're not from California and your state does not have a DL classification such as doubles endorsement then what do you think you can do when going into California? Get a California DL while traveling there? Nope, no can do because you aren't a California resident. The US Supreme Court ruled decades ago that all states are mandated to recognize all other states' driver's licenses. So what ever state you're licensed in all other states have to recognize it. Such ruling applied only to driver's licenses and registration plates on the vehicles from other states. So, what doesn't make sense? California may allow it but, only for those that have a CDL with doubles endorsement from whatever state they are licensed. That does not necessarily mean that a person with a class 5 license that is legal to pull double in their state is also legal in California. Obviously, they are not legal in Oregon and Washington and neither is anyone, even with a CDL with doubles endorsement. And when going into California you may well be required to drop one unit before entering and go back for it later just as you would need to do when going to Oregon or Washington.Re: double towing...Your drivers license is recognized and accepted by other states and that is where it stops... I am of the opinion that you have to abide by the laws of the state/province you are in as regarding double towing and legal length. I believe that you cannot tow doubles in states that do not allow it, whether or not it is legal where you are licensed from. I know that this is the case in Canada. I would be pulled over by the first DOT guy that caught me double towing in BC even though I am legal in Alberta. I believe the same applies to me in the states. I am legal to double tow thru Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Utah and Arizona but not in Washington, Oregon or California. I need responses from those with personal experiences and/or officers with the knowledge to answer this question, not opinions please. As far as I know, drivers licenses are the only thing that works in the sense that if you are legal at home, you are allowed to drive in other states based on your home license. Some provinces and maybe some states require a special RV endorsement on your drivers license but, if you are visiting from a province or state that does not have the same requirements, you are ok legally to drive there as a visitor. This does not apply to vehicle/trailer configurations, AFAIK.Re: Shaw Direct/WinegardThe update is hardware that includes a new controller and internals in the turret. Any software would come programmed into the controller. Please let us know what Wingard says. I have heard of some dealers having issues with the new update as well.Re: iRV 66 performanceI would be able to get it for $140. There are likely a lot more than 30 units sold. I think that most people that are happy with a purchase generally don't provide reviews, it is mostly those that get lemons or have other issues who want to let the world know.
