All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: slideI have been frustrated with the front slide on my Blackstone trailer. It will not slide in or out without using the reset procedure. This spring camping world replaced both motors and railing. Still didn't work. I then replaced the electronic module. Still doesn't work - plus having trouble getting returned phone calls from camping world. What I have just noticed after doing the reset function and running the slide in and out about a dozen times is when the slide is out all distance measurements are equal, but when the slide moves in it both sides do not stop at the same time.Re: Battery Theft...I never have had a battery stolen. Have had my propane tanks with the regular taken while my trailer was stored at a storage rental facility. Now I can store my trailer at home, so I don't worry much about it anymore. I do, however, have a long bicycle wire chain wrapped in the handle of the 2 propane tanks and around the trailer frame, locked.Re: trailer and tow vehicle too longalso -- in Idaho you can tow 2 items behind your vehicle. Get a 20ft tow vehicle plus a 36ft toy hauler with a 16 ft boat. Wow! not for me, but you would be over 65 ftRe: trailer and tow vehicle too longI'm at 54 feet combined length. My neighbor is looking at some brand of 40 plus feet toy hauler (he goes riding in the desert so tow length is not a concern for him as far as finding a parking spot). The guy on the utube pgm hauled his toy hauler with a vehicle that looked like a small semi tractor. I've seen pictures of 5th wheel rigs pulled by this type of tow vehicle, so I was thinking there may be some full-timers who may unknowingly be in a over 65 foot situation and not realize total length could be a problem.Re: GeneratorMy Honda 2000 works without problems for any general use. If I want the AC, then I need to link 2 generators for enough power. I agree to check the park out ahead of time for generator use -- I'm looking at installing solar panels to help me in parks I want to go that say no generator use is allowed.Re: water leaksI have had 4 travel trailers over the past 30 years. After my first trailer I learned to do routine checks each year. I don't know if my first trailer already had a leak or developed one, but the right corner went bad after 4 years of use. I have had only one leak since that time (on my current Blackstone trailer). I found it came from a very small crack in the top corner of the front cap on the trailer. Easy fix with the right sealant.trailer and tow vehicle too longI saw last night some u-tube shows talking about some states having maximum tow lengths for the combined length of a toy-hauler trailer plus the tow vehicle, for example Oregon at 65 feet. If your unit exceeds this maximum you need to purchase a special permit or risk being fined. Has anyone heard of this being an issue for non-commercial vehicles?outdoors rv blacksone slide problemWe purchased a 2013 Blackstone trailer and have had problems with the small bedroom slide. The manufacturer, Outdoors RV, tried to help. After the slide totally stopped working we went to Camping world ( closer than taking it to the manufacturer in Oregon) for repairs. Camping World had to contact Lippert to finally get the correct parts as Outdoors RV could not tell them the part numbers needed. It tested fine at home, took it camping and had trouble again with the slide not retracting. Almost went home with it out until I barely touched the out button and held the in button for couple seconds. After 7 tries the slide came in. Here is what I think the problem is and my solution (so far working). In the bedroom the slide switch, light switch and upper vent switch are all next to each other. In the dark, it is easy to touch the slide switch while trying to turn on the lights. I think barely touching that switch caused the "brains" of the slide to reset itself. I went to Lowes, bought a electrical box entender and installed it over the slide switch. Now, in the dark, we can tell what switch NOT to touch. Wish the dealer had a better setup of the switches, or SOMEONE would have told us about this potential problem. So here am I, telling anyone reading this.Re: tankless water heaterthanks for the responses. I'll have to get back tomorrow on the brand in my trailer as I am away from the trailer right now. Not sure how the check valve would work as the on/off button on the shower head would work as a check valve (from my way of thinking). The insulation sounds worth a try -- I'll check tonight how hard it will be to add the insulation. I can easily get into the back area of the heater unit.tankless water heaterOur new travel trailer has a tankless water heater. Our first trip out was with full hookups and the shower worked great for a continuous running hot water shower. Problem: most times we dry camp. I tested the shower using the typical navy shower process and each time I pushed the shower head button back on I got cold water for a little while. With the old trailer using 6 gallon tank, this never happened. It appears for dry camping we would waste water, ie use more water, with the tankless system. Any ideas to help not use the extra water when dry camping. Of course, we can go back to the old tank system as one option. I have what is supposed to be a low volume shower head, but not sure if at the 1 gal/min rate or more.
