I know it needs new pads and rotors and most likely needs new calipers also. Not sure if I want to try and do this my self but I do have access to the tools needed if I decide to tackle it. Also, thank you Richard, i was looking at those also when I got under there..Brake Issues - 1998 BounderSo I was driving the Bounder home after our first full weekend of using it and the brakes gave out about 30 miles from home, I was able to limp home with the limited braking from the tag axle drum brakes and the front brakes. I climbed under the coach to take a look to see brake fluid all over the inside of the tire and rotors that looked like old records. My question is, how long do you think this has been going on? When we picked it up from my in laws (who we bought it from) there was a little grind in the brakes, I asked them how long it has been going on and they told me "I just happens when it sits for a while". I should have known better because it sounded like the pads were gone.... and they were. Just glad this did not happen on the 1500 mile drive home with it. Rotors for listening to music! Brake fluid all over the tire. Re: 1998 Fleetwood Bounder - Ford v-10 - Fuel Pump?Ok, I was not able to find any leaks with the WD 40 trick. I did borrow a vacuum pump from a buddy as well as a vacuum gauge. The vacuum pump held true on the EGR Valve and I also heard the EGR valve return once the pump was pulled off the valve. So, I think the EGR valve is good. I check the PVC Valve and that seems ok, I can hear it rattle when shook and I see no cracks or anything of concern. The odd part, It seems to idle smoother without the vacuum hose connected on the top of the EGR Valve. Does this Indicate anything?Re: 1998 Fleetwood Bounder - Ford v-10 - Fuel Pump? Will SeaFoam help to fix the Vacuum leak or is that just for the Gen issue? Also, with the WD-40 Trick is there a diagram of where to find all the vacuum lines? Thank You!! -CoryRe: 1998 Fleetwood Bounder - Ford v-10 - Fuel Pump?No I have not changed the gas cap.Re: 1998 Fleetwood Bounder - Ford v-10 - Fuel Pump?Hello Fred, Thanks for the information on the Vacuum leak, I have not seen anything on that yet. I have not tested the the heater or defrost only used the AC and it seemed to work fine through the trip. It is exactly as you explain, it only happens after driving for a while. It does not seem to be a problem in the morning before it warms up. On more thing We just noticed also, The generator wavers when it first starts also but once it gets going and has some load on it it seems to run fine for the rest of the time. Just wanted to be sure that was out there. Didn't know if this was related or just coincidental. Thanks again for the help!Re: 1998 Fleetwood Bounder - Ford v-10 - Fuel Pump?Yup, Have only had it happen during idle. Runs fine as soon as I give it gas, but if I let off the gas again it will start doing it again.1998 Fleetwood Bounder - Ford v-10 - Fuel Pump?Hello Everyone, We just got done driving from Kansas to Florida and about halfway through the trip we started have issues with the idle. I have a video of the RPM gauge and you can hear the engine also. What is most likely to cause this issue? I was thinking the fuel pump may be going out. From what I have been reading, the 1998 Bounder was built on two different Ford chassis, it was built on the 1997 Ford v8 and also on the 1999 Ford V10. I was happy to find that they had the V10 especially with this being the 37 footer, I feel the v8 would just not have the power needed. I may be completely wrong, but the v10 sure won't hurt and from what I understand the MPG is pretty close to the same.
