Re: Truck camper and towing This is my Lance 865 on a 2014 mega cab 3500. Overall TC length is 16.5. I use a 2.5" to a 2" extension by Curt (item #C45048 on etrailer). You can read the specs and capacities there. I cut it down to around 30 in" and it is 24" to the edge of the receiver. The camper overhang is 32" to 34" depending on where you measure from. I don't have tongue weight as it is obviously a flat tow, so not apples to apples. Has worked very well towing all over Colorado.Re: Photo Thread - Post a Photo of Your Truck Camper Here A bit of downsizing from our 5th wheel. Kids are in college. My wife doesn't have to follow in the jeep. We love it!Re: only 1 of my 4 tires is worn off on the insideI had bad inside wear on my 5er tires. Took it to transwest big rig truck shop and they did an axle alignment. This was 4 years ago. Tires wear perfectly now. Cost me $450. Money well spent.Re: Dump/Fill -- Moab UT. $$$The farm and feed was $5 in March.Re: '14 Ram 3500I got the cel last week. Went to dealer and was told the code was t-05. Dealer said parts not available. Cleared code and sent me on my way. I called 800-chrylser and was told the same thing. A young lady informed me it was not a safety issue and I should be able to drive it. I tried towing out of town last night and the countdown to 5 miles an hour limp mode began. Turned around and headed home. Called Chrysler again this morning and asked for a "manager". Was told they'd get back to me in 24-48 hours. After pressuring the young lady a bit she finally said there may be a fix in July but its not definite... So I have a $54K truck with 34000 miles on it that is just sitting and I get to cancel all my summer trips. I ran from a 2010 F350 because of **** like this...Total BS!Re: GeneratorsThis is my experience with 3 different Champion generators. 1. Champion 3500 watt open frame. Has a great RV plug and runs everything. Always felt like I needed to drag it 500ft because of noise. Heavy, sold it. 2. Champion 2000 watt inverter. Nice and quiet, light weight. No RV plug so have to carry adapter. Have been using this little genset for 6 years. Struggles at 9000 ft and up with micro and or coffee pot. Will not run AC. Am keeping this one around. Great for charging batteries. 3. Champion 3100 watt inverter w/remote start. Runs everything, quiet, doesn't struggle at 9000 ft and up with coffee pot or microwave. Have tested AC at 9000 ft and it ran fine. Remote start is an added bonus on those cold mornings. Hit the key fob and coffee is perking. DW likes the remote when cooking and ease for microwave use. A little heavy, but teenage son helps put it in truck. DW and I can manage it as well. Hope this helps!Re: Staying in Shape to RV LongerRVing is a lot of work... The prep, the travel the setup and all there is to do to get back home. Alot of our travels is based around my kids mountain bike racing schedule. It takes us all over the Rockies and western U.S. I jump in and race too. Plus we ski 40 days a year on average. I'm 52 and loving this active lifestyle! When we're not riding or skiing we're in the Jeep running passes. Life is good. Keep it rolling!Re: Looking at a 2008 F250 6.4l"Thanks everyone for their experiences/opinions. From what I gather you have to really be on top of the maintenance and I learned the radiators are known weak spots. This one is really clean, rust free and I have a soft spot for King Ranches. I am not sure if I will get this one still researching thanks for the input and keep it coming." Even if you are on top of the maintenance they are still a complete nightmare for some people. Mine went through 3 engines in under 55,000 miles. THREE! I had it for 3 years. Every year it was in the dealer for 3 months getting short blocks, long blocks, HPFP and new fuel rail lines, gas tanks, the list goes on... I went above and beyond on the maintenance. It was used mostly for towing with limited short trips. Mine was the Lariat plus, beautiful truck, but looks can be deceiving. King Ranch could be King Headache... I wouldn't take one if you gave it to me!Re: RAM 3500 Diesel Owners - Still Like Your Truck?I bought new in 2014, 3500 SRW Laramie mega cab and it has been amazing. It has the 3.42. I tow a 11,500 lb 30 ft 5er through the Colorado Rockies every other weekend. 14 weekends in 2016 so far. Occasionally I double tow a Jeep jku behind the 5er. Ram has plenty of power. Exhaust brake is real nice. Laramie package is nice. Back up camera and separate bed camera is great for hitching up. Love this truck.
