Mine with no toys or water weighs around 9200lbs and has a pin weight north of 2400lbs. Your truck will tow it, but it is a large trailer. Should you tow it, that's up to you. We like ours. Good luck.Re: Atwood heater failure - need advise!Comments still coming in. Awesome, and thanks for the additionals. As the weather was crappy, I didn't get to it this weekend. And then it went into storage for a couple of weeks. I will be working this issue upon my return to hopefully-sunny SoCal. As always, I'll post when I find the issue. Peace.Re: Quick purchasing question 720Deere wrote: Well, Bumpy, that is why I don't carry a gun! My immediate family is just myself the wife, son and daughter. For probably half of our trips, the wife's sister, her two girls and her son tag along. On weekend trips she never seems to bring all of her kids. Space is only at a premium during our biennial 9 day Disney trip. 8 works just fine since 4 of the women use the bath house for all their beautification needs. It still takes a miracle to get them all to the Disney parks before Noon! Props to you Brother. That would drive most of us to the looney-bin!!!Re: Atwood heater failure - need advise!Awesome information All!!! Thanks. I will be doing some troubleshooting in the morning, armed with this good stuff. Will keep you posted. BTW, space heater still has me comfy while typing this. hehehe Peace!Re: Atwood heater failure - need advise!BTW, with the temps here in Cali, my tip-safe cool-to-the-touch ceramic heater is doing just fine at keeping me warm. Very shortly, the ACs will be in need and the heater not-so-much. Just want to have everything in tip-top-shape.Atwood heater failure - need advise! The Atwood 8531 model heater for my camper fails to produce heat. Started two days ago. I drove across country several weeks ago, and it worked perfect through the cold and storms in the southeast. Upon my arrival in Cali, it worked perfect for the couple weeks of use while here. Fast forward to now. The fan comes on, but there is no sound from the igniter and I am blowing cold air. Filled both propane bottles (they were not empty), and I'm plugged in @ RV spot. Removed the propane supply assembly from the heater and inspected the igniter assembly. Perfectly clean and functional. DID remove some corrosion from the wiring connection to the igniter with a wire brush. No change. RV store is telling me the circuit board is probably the culprit ($140). Any thoughts? This is a basic, gas-only, heater for a toy-hauler. Thanks in advanceRe: Need advise - trailer brakes not working!Trip report. Made it to Ventura alive! Happy about that. About 30 minutes out of Charleston (day 1), the brake controller started giving me the faults again. Damnit, it's not fixed!!! Continued for the majority of the trip across I-10. Spent Monday night working in the trailer tongue, and Tuesday morning working under the trailer (Walmart parking lot - in the rain). Thank God I had the creeper with me. Additionally, 5 new tires on the trailer and a new brake controller as well. Pin-holed a turbo boot hose and had some degas bottle leakage as well. Me thinks the engine is in line for a little work at this point. All-in-all, a very rough and stressful trip. Took several days to wind down from it. All is good now, and I'll be addressing every issue prior to any more towing!Re: Need advise - trailer brakes not working! dedmiston wrote: shawnct450r wrote: Just wanted to report in and say - problem solved!!! Corroded/dirty contacts on the 7-pin @ the truck and the pigtail. Spent about an hour with a jewelers file polishing them clean. Also cleaned all the ground connections I could find, as well as the trailer ball and adapter receiver. Cross-country trip is back on! Thanks to all who provided advise in here, as well as Bill @ Bill's Trailer in Ventura CA. That guy knows everything! Go, Ventura! You're pretty close to me. Glad you got some help. Drive safe. Thanks Brother! Not close to you at the present time. hehe I'm back in Charleston getting ready to head that way. I talked to Bill while I was out there for work. Will be back end of next week if all goes well.Re: Need advise - trailer brakes not working!Just wanted to report in and say - problem solved!!! Mine is a 5-6 inch offset, and it works perfectly for me with my average sized pin-box and shortbed pickup. No evidence of frame weld cracking as of yet (I inspect during and after every trip because I'm paranoid), and I've had it on for about 6 years. I would think that a short pin-box with a long adapter would be a good receipt. From what I've heard, people in the horse racing circuit do this to their vacation trailers with no problems. JMHO
