I keep thinking about buying one for myself but I don't tow many tag trailers.Re: Cummins auto high idle questionMinus 15-20 celcius here for past few days. Truck has been sitting for 4 days not plugged in. Started it up and went to high Idle (1100 rpm IIRC) immediatley. After 2-3 minutes it dropped to 900 rpm and then used to cruise to set idle back to 1100 and left it there while I scraped ice and snow off. Did same thing last winter.Re: Post your tow vehicle pics hereMy new to me tow rig. It will be overkill for my camper ha ha! But it's everyday job is towing a 50ft car hauler so perfect fit for the job. Re: Diamond Plate Tool BoxI ran these pork chop boxes under a soft cover for a bit. Made by Delta. Re: Another can i tow this question...kind of60 miles, like other's have said....i'd get the the dealership to deliver it for you. You are going to drop a good chunk of change on the trailer tell them you want it delivered and be done with it.Re: Thoughts on Firestone TRANSFORCE AT tiresHave run the HTs and the ATs. On my second set of ATs now. Get about 120-140,000 kms out of them on my dually. Truck is towing 90% of the time.Re: Ram 2500 coil vs Ram 3500 leaf: squat testThe OP takes time to post pics and info on the differences between the leaf and coil spring designs. Eight pages later all this thread has become is yet ANOTHER argument between SRW and DRW. A reader can come on this site and read many different threads and the majority turn into this same BS.Re: Shortage of RV transporters. bound4fl wrote: greenenvy1 wrote: Passin Thru wrote: My brother is leased to Horizon, a Trailer Transit company out of Elkhart. He says they don't pay any extra, and only give you a 500 mile/day limit to deliver. Most 5ers pull like sleds too.Return expenses are not built in, someone is dreaming and a decent motel is $95.00. Actually you CAN legally sleep in your truck, you just can't call it a sleeper. NO you can't sleep in your truck, unless it has a D.O.T. approved sleeper. And I had a $275 fine from Texas D.O.T. to prove it plus a hotel bill and 8 hrs of down time. I pulled for Horizon transport. Unles you can do some very creative longs (illeagle) it is very hard to make a good living. If you are single or yor spouse rides with you plan on spending lots of time alone. Pay is for only loaded miles, 99% of the time you have to drive back unloaded. O Someone said 40 cents a mile while pulling, it is really closer to about 75 cents. As long as you log off duty and not sleeper you are perfectly legal to sleep in your pick up as of February 2013 (IIRC). If you were fined by Texas DOT you should have fought it. I have been doing it for the past 1.5 years and seen many inspections and have never had an issue. I do agree with your comments regarding this being a difficult way to make a living though.Re: Shortage of RV transporters. You can make the money work if you are smart. Tough way to make a living no doubt about it.
