We bought a memory foam mattress cover from Walmart that is 1.5" thick. I find that the mattress is now more comfortable then our one at home.Re: Anyone here with a Bigfoot TC?The one thing I wish Bigfoot would do is make the overhead bunk a regular queen size bed and not a RV queen. The dinettes are a little too small as well, especially when made into a bed. They are not long enough for anyone 6 feet tall or more. I would also like to see a better battery box like a tray and not a plastic box. Other then that it is a good camper.Re: Advice here is so good, need some on solarI purchased a kit from AM Solar back in 2009 and installed it myself. Is was pretty easy with some basic tools and basic wiring knowledge. I did not drill into my roof, instead I used their stainless steel Rocker Foot mounts and the 3M VHB tape the came with the kit. They also recommended using Dicor sealant around the base of the Rocker Foot mounts so dirt and moisture does not penetrate the 3M VHB tape. They have been in service now for over 9 years and no problems. The wire from the panels is brought into the camper via the refrigerator vent from a combiner box that came with the kit.Re: My RV(car)port has gone to the birds..The CD's will work for about a month and then they get use to them. At least that is what happen to us trying to keep birds out of our chicken coop.Re: Armorlite TC -- expensive, but it looks very niceFresh water tank is way way way to small.Re: Adding Better Reverse Lights on a CamperNRALIFR That is a cool idea.Re: TC Report -- Time to go milling!Man you are pretty serious about your campfire woodRe: MicroAir hard start system and a Honda eu2200is? jimh425 wrote: Kayteg1 wrote: Don't know, lot of burned holes on Baker grade shoulder would prove otherwise. What's a burned hole? Most breakdowns I've seen on mountains are transmissions burning up or coolant systems going out from high rpms on gasoline engines. The fact is that turbo diesels do that job betternes but cost more. I am guessing where someone pulled over as they were overheating and the vehicle caught on fire. Burning the pavement.Re: Fixing some rotten wood, what type of wood should I use ?Marine grade plywood could be a good choice too.Re: A/C and a generator work2much wrote: We have run across a couple campgrounds recently that don't allow generators at all. The last was in Big Bend National Park. Cottonwood campground doesn't allow them and for that reason it stays full of people looking for a quiet camp. (according to the park ranger) I think there is a trend forming. The number of rv's we see now sporting some sort of solar panels to keep their batteries charged seems to be climbing at a fast rate. Even in parks where generators are allowed we have noticed a pretty big reduction in there use over the last couple years. I am glad to see the solar trend. I like quiet camping and not hearing generators at all. Funny thing is I just bought one. What a hipocrit I am. When I was making a decision to go solar or generator I went solar and it's been great for keeping up with our demands. The only reason for my recent generator purchase was to power the air conditioner. My friends that we camp with are finally catching up with the clean power of solar, thank God. Now I don't have to listen to their generators. Won't they be surprised when I fire up one to cool the camper down :B
