I was concerned that I might be over leaving Alaska and did not weigh until we were around Kansas. I was still just barely under after filling up with a full tank of gas.Re: F150 3.5 Ecoboost-length and weight of camper you're towingIn 2012 we towed a 35' travel trailer that weighed 11,200lbs loaded to Alaska and back with a 2012 F150 Ecoboost HD 7 lug wheels. It pulled great but seemed a little light in crosswinds.Re: 2016 GMC Canyon Duramax MPG TestI gave one a test drive and although the mpg's look impressive here, I was not impressed driving it. It was not nearly as responsive as the V6. Granted, it was not really warmed up and diesels definitely perform better at operating temp's. Maybe Ford will do better with their Ranger.Re: GM's ramping up production for Co and CanyonJust got back from 4 weeks in the Philippines. Saw the new Ford Ranger all over, but only saw 2 of the Colorado's. If Ford doesn't change the Ranger too much here, I believe it will give the twins a real run in sales. Probably leave them in the dust. Having said that, I may trade for a Canyon, if I'm satisfied with the 2.8 Diesel. Would love to have one with the 5.3, or even the 4.6 gas engine. Just don't like the 3.6. The other big sellers there that we will not see here are the Toyota Hilux, the Isuzu D Max and the Mitsubishi. I believe I saw more Rangers than the Toyotas.Re: Help me chose a spray in bed linerI have had Line-X, Rhino, Bedrug and GM's factory spray in. The only two I would consider now are the Rhino and the Bedrug. I'm an old man and they are easier on my knees. The worst one is the GM spray in. I've even placed a rubber mat over it.Re: Colorado Truck of the Year again!!I walked away from the Canyon because of the 3.6 engine a few months back. The 2.8 Diesel has generated new interest, but I would prefer either a 4.6 or 5.3 gas engine. The 3.6 is not a truck engine.Re: The good ole days of Alaska travelMurray, Was the Tok cutoff there in 1948? I first drove out from Anchorage to Tennessee the last week of November 1962 and drove up to Delta Junction to get on the Alaskan Highway. I don't remember it being available, or maybe I was advised to not use it. A 53 year old memory is not always accurate.Re: Have factory tow package or after market?GM seems to have brought the Colorado and Canyon out before they had gotten their ducks in a row. There is no integrated brake controller. Just a "Curt" add on. I had looked forward to the Canyon since I no longer tow heavy and would like a somewhat smaller truck for ease of driving and parking, but after following them since release, I moved away. Also do not like the 3.5 Automobile engine. The diesel option may be better when it is released, but I am really tired of the diesel/EPA engines. Their Truck 4.6 should be a good choice if they go that direction at some point. Just traded for a Chevy High Country.Re: how much cash? Our last trip was in 2012 so we are a little dated at this time. At that time, almost no one took Discover. In the early 2000's we used Discover at most locations.Re: Axle Issues-Out of AlignmentIf you are not satisfied with the info you get Monday, I suggest that you check with Six Robles located on Commercial Drive across from Merrill Field. They replaced axles for me last summer and I feel they were reasonable and professional.
