My F250 on the CAT scale was 8500 lbs with just me, hitch , stock tank and 30 gal aux tank full. I can't remember the axle weights as I threw the CAT receipt away. But I had about 1200lbs left over for pin weight. My camper's dry weight (weight as delivered from factory) is 13,280lbs. And the GVWR is 16, 000lbs. I done the math awhile back and ofcourse I had busted the truck GVWR and I think I was a touch over on the rear axle weight limit. Would the F250 pull it? Yeah all day long without a problem. But it was obvious when stopping and hitting rough spots that it was too much camper. Also I had the B&W Companion non slider hitch. I put a small ding in the cab coming close to busting out the window but my wife seen it before it happened. Now with the slider it would've added much more weight in the bed. Also coming down a mountain I had in the back of my mind of having a blowout. Now I don't have to worry about having 14, 000 some odd lbs chasing me down a mountain with only 1 tire in the rear. But hey to each his own. It's a fact that there are more 3/4 ton trucks pulling heavy campers than DRW'S But that's their decision not mine. I am satisfied with upgrading from 3/4 to 1 ton and wish I would have gone with the dually in the beginning. The white with beige trim was the colour I always wanted. Browsing the internet I seen a local dealer had 2 in the exact colour. 2 days later and it was sitting in my yard!Re: finally made the trade 1jeep wrote: OP...curious what gearing you have, 3:73? what are you getting for fuel economy? I also have a f250 6.7 and am planning to make the move in the future, just curious if my fuel mileage will change that much. BTW nice truck and good luck. 3.73 and the fuel mileage I haven't even bothered looking at it towing yet. I've only towed a few miles just to see how it handled. Driving around town the mileage is about the same as my 13 F250. I have around 1, 500 miles on my truck so far.Re: finally made the trade jerem0621 wrote: Nice truck, they sure have come a long way from my 1999 Superduty dually. Mine had a measly 4000 ish lbs of payload before my family got in the truck...what kind of payload capacity do you have on your door sticker? As far as a dually being more stable... Than a SRW...well, it's got 100% more tire contact in the back...that's double the sidewall's and twice the contact patch on the ground...plus it's got a wider footprint..physics says it's more stable....a wider base is more stable than a narrower base with a similar load. Thanks! Jeremiah 14, 000 GVWR Front GAWR 5, 940 RAWR 9, 650. Yeah they keep getting more torque and HP every year. I think the Dodge comes with 865 lb ft torque as the new Ford's are 860. Before long they will be selling minature semis!Re: finally made the trade Mile High wrote: rsbabson wrote: Haven't got to use the engine break yet as I've only towed on flat highways so far. But there is a noticable difference in torque/power. The 2014 and later models come with 440hp and 860lbs ft torque. Actually the turn point was 2015. My 2014 was still the 400 hp 800 lbs ft torque. I bought it the week the 2015s starting populating the lots and I was really torn between the 2015, or the savings on the 2014. I was coming from a 2008, so it all tasted good :) v I stand corrected! Wow what a world of difference from towing with a SRW to a DRW. Should've got the dually in the first place. I would post a pic but I don't know how.Re: items for saleI know how about I'm giving xxx away but I need xxxx for shipping?
