Concha Del Mar east of the Playa Hotel is also on the beach, dry camping onlyRe: Pemex south of Los MochisI believe the Pemex you are looking for is southbound, the number is 4925. We have stayed at the truck stop northbound just north of the southbound coming out and its number is 7407Re: Couple of OZ surfers missing in MexicoRecent news o Missing Surfers http://news.yahoo.com/mexico-doing-tests-bodies-search-australians-174638544.htmlRe: rv painting in rocky pointContact Edgar at Concha Del Mar, the RV dry camp on the east side of the Playa Bonita Hotel, he knows a painter by the name of Pelucho, he will beat Chuey hands down. I had Chuey remove some decals on my Motorhome and paint them back, it was not good, lots of overspray, took his time as he had too many projects going at the same time. Be careful..Re: Crossing the Border at San Luis?We crossed at San Luis yesterday, it was some holiday for the Mexico side of the border so consequently there was more traffic, although we were on the USA side in a hour and 2o min. The US side took about 20 min. it looked like there was some sort of new training being conducted. If you figure 80 miles closer to Yuma through San Luis, it would take about an hour and a half longer to drive through Lukeville so yesterday wasn't that bad.Re: Crossing the Border at San Luis?Forgot to mention we have a 40' motor home towing a Silverado with a Yamaha Rhino in the truck..Re: Crossing the Border at San Luis?We crossed at Lukeville for years but we started crossing at San Luis about 4 years ago and will continue. Granted the wait time is longer through San Luis but if you are going back through Yuma you save about 80 miles. We always cross on Sat. and the longest wait was 45 min. Homeland Security are crabby to deal with sometimes but it is short lived We will go back this coming Mon. so it might be a longer wait will know soon enough.Re: Camping recommendations for Rocky Point? They are currently building the new Marina at the Reef so the dry camp area is not being used, construction noise, dirt etc. You can dry camp at Concha Del Mar, just east of the Playa Bonita HotelRe: Puerto Peñasco Helicopter Gunship ActionI am an RV'er who treks to Rocky Point every year during the winter months, we have been coming here for 15 years now. We were here when the action was underway. We were quite close but at no time in any danger. I am sure everybody was somewhat apprehensive, during and afterwards. It was a well executed raid involving the Federal Government who had planned the event well in advance, injuries or death came only to the bad boys and no tourist or inhabitants were involved or hurt. We have been here other times when the drug folks have had similar situations, and shooting's were part of the end result with only them being harmed. We will continue to travel here! MK2Re: Puerto PenascoWe have been going to Rocky Point since 1999, you will be able to use either US dollars or Pesos, some take credit cards, most of the Pemex stations will take credit cards. Also you can use your debit card at the banks for exchange to Pesos. We use pesos a lot because everybody has different exchange rates and it seems easier not to get confused when they try and make change. Most of the street venders will give you their price in dollars, so go and have fun. Don't know about insurance in Gila Bend but you can purchase it in Ajo 43 miles south of there which is 38 miles north of the border.
