Might check into the prices of the used ones on their lot. Not ready to buy until next January but we would like to see what is out there. Since this is such a big jump I want to get as much info as possible. Again, thanks so much for your input.:)Re: 5th wheeling, any regrets????Thanks all of you for the great input. We are going out this weekend and look at some 5th. wheelers to get an idea of floor plans and whatnot. We won't be buying until next year unless we come across a great deal. I am going to be doing a lot of research on this before then as this is going to be a big move for both of us! We will also look at the 5th. wheelers at our own campground, might come across a great deal at the end of the season. Can you recommend a good model for a first timer like us? Don't want to go any larger than a 29 footer to start with. Thanks,Re: 5th wheeling, any regrets????Thank you all for your great advice. I will definitely check into renting a 5th wheel rig. Any suggestions on places in Michigan that rent them for the week or two weeks? Also in answer to one of the questions posted, we have been members of Lighthouse Village for 32 years now. Started with a Coleman Pop-up, then a 29' Vega, then a 35' Aljo Ally. We now have a nice park home for the summer months. So that said, we are pretty comfortable being around each other in small spaces. I feel that if we don't do this it will be something we will both regret for the rest of our lives. I will be 66 in March and will be retiring in January. We travel well together and both enjoy traveling to places with no particular destination in mind. Thanks again for your feedback everyone!!!:)5th wheeling, any regrets????Hi All! We are exploring our options when I retire in January. One of them, the one I am most geeked about is purchasing a fifth wheel rig. We have a park home that we can summer in in Homer Michigan. What we are thinking about doing is selling our main house and purchasing a fifth wheel rig and spend our winters traveling. This has probably been posted before, but what I would like to know is what are the pluses and minuses about this lifestyle? I understand that if we don't like it we will have to probably take a big hit on selling the rig. Is there any places that will lease a rig for a year? Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.Re: RV resorts in FloridaI am going to be retiring in November and was not open to going to Fla. for the winter but after this winter's weather it seems that we are going to look in Fla. now. We currently have a park home in Michigan and would like to find a nice park to check out next winter to find a place that we can winter at. We are looking for a year round park where we can purchase a park home for the winter months. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.Re: Looking for a place to winterI am not looking to rent but to buy. As far as the ice or snow, neither one is a problem for me as it disappears in a day or two. Being that I will be retired by then, I am not going to be all that worried about being a shut in for a few days! No, after last years winter which was the worst winter in recorded history for our area, what is a half of an inch of ice or two or three inches of snow. The problem I am having is trying to find campgrounds that have permanent sites that we can winter in. That would be November to April. I am even willing to look at places in the Carolinas and Tennessee.Looking for a place to winterHi All: I am going to be retiring in March. We currently have a park home at Lighthouse Village in Homer MI. What I am looking for is something similar, park home, cabin, etc. that is within a 14 hr. driving radius possibly GA, AL, Tennessee, SC, NC. I don't mind if it's a little cold in the winter, just want to get away from the snow. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.Re: How to search for member owned campgrounds. We found a campground on the web called Logan Lake in Alabama. Does anyone have any experience with this place. The weather looks okay for what we want and it looks very similar to what we have up here in Michigan. Also, do you have to do anything to prevent mold or mildew when we are not there in the summer? Thanks in advance for any info. How to search for member owned campgrounds.Hi All: We are members of Lighthouse Village RV Park in Homer MI. We have been members there for 30+ years. We recently purchased a very nice park home in the park. I will be retiring in 542 days.(Who's counting?) My question is this: I am looking to find an affordable permanent place down south, Alabama, Georgia, possibly Fla. How do I go about finding campgrounds in these areas that have similar sites? Ones that have permanent park homes for sale or other alternatives. We figure that would be the way to live affordably and still escape the severe winters of Michigan and still be reasonably close to family in Michigan. Any ideas???Looking for a Park Home dealer in MI or IndianaHi All! We are residents of Lighthouse Village in Homer MI. We would like to get input on where to view/purchase park model rv trailers in the area. We are looking for a gently used or new model. We currently have a travel trailer and are looking to upgrade. Thanks in advance for any info.
