I then tried it on my 2007 Dodge Ram pickup and it worked correctly. I then tried it on a 2008 Ford Escape and it worked correctly on that vehicle. I read somewhere that reading the ODBII protocol from older Ford vehicles causes problems with the Torque application. Problem solved, the tongue jack never trips the circuit breaker.
