I went out to try and get over the air channels... no dice. I'm thinking previous owner did away with the switch. BTW... how does one post pics on this site? I don't see any way to attach...Re: New Coachmen Clipper 17FQpattyz.. checking to see how the Clipper has been treating you? I'm looking hard at them... any regrets?Re: Tow rig advice needed...I have an 8.1 in my Avalanche and it was great for pulling for a gasser.. (but pales in comparison to the Cummins I use now) Has 175,000 on it and still runs strong. I think it'll depend on how well one is maintained as to how long it'll go. I believe they were designed to go 250,000 - 300,000. It would be the rest of the truck I'd be concerned about.. ball joints, suspension, tranny, etc. My neighbor has a 6.0 and pulls a 33' ~9000 pound trailer and thinks it's just a little under powered.. Good luck with your search.Re: furnace/heater question trail-explorer wrote: pconroy328 wrote: I'm pretty sure the correct answer is "it depends" :) Depends on how long the furnace runs, how many Amp Hours your batteries have, how cold it is outside and a dozen other issues. That sums it up pretty well. There are so many variables involved, it's impossible to answer the question. THe only true way to know "how long your batteries will last" is to install an amp hour meter such as a Xantrex Link Lite or Link Pro Yes.. too many variables and conditions. I did pick up a generator today.. so I will monitor and use when necessary. Next step is to pick up a meter. I do have a Buddy heater and have used it in the past.. I haven't experienced any ill effects. Thanks again everyone!Re: Will 2600w peak 2300w running start and run a/c?Thanks for the feedback.. i gave it a try and it won't handle the startup load. Will 2600w peak 2300w running start and run a/c?13,500 btu unit?Re: Direct TV Bigbird65 wrote: I have DirecTV at home so I am interested too. I have read that most people will take their primary home receiver with them to use in the camper because it is already registered with DirecTV and will not incur an extra charge that buying a new receiver would. I could be all wrong on this. Back when I watched tv.. I would do this. Found an extra dish and brought a receiver with me. There is plenty of info out there to figure how/where to aim. Just need a clear view of the sw sky...Re: furnace/heater questionThanks again! I replaced the converter last year with a Progressive Dynamics 45A smart charger.. so it probably does a good job. The Genius on 6v mode does 7.25v - 3.5A My next question.. If I bought a "blue or red" 2000 series generator.. I would need to use an adapter for the 30 amp cord to plug into one of these generators.. is that okay? If I brought my batteries down to close to 50 percent... how long would it take for one of these generators to charge them to near full capacity?Re: furnace/heater questionGreat info.. thank you! I do not have a generator yet.. been agonizing and putting it off for awhile now. I did just pick up a Genius 3500 charger tho.. A couple of questions.. if/when I do pick up a generator.. do I just plug in my 30 amp cord to charge batteries.. or should I plug the Genius into a 120v outlet on Gen and charge that way?Re: furnace/heater questionMaybe the .59 was fridge..
