Keep in mind that like most DC area roads, it can get a bunch of traffic at times. Still better than I70/I270/I495 combination for getting through the area.Re: Cold Climate Folks: how often to run your C in the winter?I store outdoors. I add fuel stabilizer and run engine and generator for 15 min. Then I remove engine and house batteries and take home. Batts are then charged fully and kept off charger til Spring in the relatively warm garage (they are never where they can be in below freezing air). No Rv cover and after eight winters its fine (no mold). I keep the tires on wood to keep them off the ground. This year I started putting moth balls in milk jugs with holes hanging under the coach, sitting in he kichen sink, and under the hood where the starting battery would be (as a mice deterrent). So I obviously do not run the engine at all. I also think its a good idea to have ended the season by doing a fresh oil and filter change first and when running the engine to circulate the fuel stabilizer you will also be bathing the engine In fresh oil. Good to change generator oil and filter also.Re: Ford V10 gas mileageMine is a 29 footer. I do not tow and get 8-9 mpg (US) using 87 octane fuel. I have not noticed a difference using fuel with Ethenol added.I tend to not exceed 65 mph.Re: Back after a short breakGood for you. Hope you like the new MH.Re: What did you do to your Class C MH today???I rolled on Hengs Rubber Roof Coating. Feeling a little dumb. Had the Rv since 2005 and never coated the roof. I only recently learned that some people say to do it every year. Before using the Hengs, I cleaned the roof with Dawn dish detergent as recommended by dealer. I thought the blackness on the roof needed to be removed. What I realized is that the blackness was the rubber roofing itself. Almost all the previous coating was worn off! Lesson learned - I wont be waiting eight years to coat it again!Re: Bummer of a summerTake the trip, sounds like just what you need!Re: Class C questionRecently in Aug I stayed 9 nights at Townsend, TN KOA. Sunday checkin, Monday check out. Even with folks coming and going every day this popular KOA never had more than three class C's present. The over whelming majority were TT and 5'ers. More than a few popups, and a handful of Class A's. A couple of days later we spent four nights at Virginia Beach KOA. Same deal, a handful of C's. Just a random sample I know. I guess it depends where you go.Re: Learning the hard wayDont feel bad. We all go thru issues I think as we learn. The first night out in our used C we had a sudden flood down the middle of the coach coming from the kitchen area. Thats when I realized that the reputable RV dealer in our town should have pressurized the water lines and demonstrated to me that it worked ok as part of the walkthru!Re: Ladder bike racks - actual experiences.I,ve strapped one childs bike to the ladder, no problem. Just bought those Camco clamps for bikes or chairs to aide holding bike. Look a litle cheap, but said to handle 50 lbs. Also use a 4 bike Swagman hitch mounted rack. Just check ladder every stop to be safe.An edit - each clamp holds 50lbs.Re: best rv insurance companys and road side assistance plansUSAA for insurance. Had Progressive before. No problems with either. Had Coachnet for mh but got too exspensive for me. Now Allstate Motor Club. Covers all my vehicles and all drivers in family. Also gets me KOA card renewal for free since we chose Allstate via KOA. Not sure if KOA still offers that.
