One must do all they can to not make themselves a victim. There is a risk associated with leaving stuff unlocked. A risk for sure in parking lots especially camping in one. Less of a risk if parking while shopping. We must all pay attention to our surroundings for personal safety too. Be prepared as these same people can attack us too. Be safe out there. They are everywhere. Pogoil.Re: Stolen tow barsWhere were they stolen from??? Parking lot or campground- RV. park???Re: A solution to defeating ants?Borax roach powder will get rid of any ant problem. Under $3 dollars Walmart. Pogoil.Re: Surge Guard w/ ? Power pedestal - how do you handle this?I have been camping in RVs for 30 years and never have had any damage from the hundreds of parks we have stayed in. But I have only been doing so with a 50 amp rig about 6 years. Yes I have a Surge guard and use it. I have been checking electrical boxes and come across low voltage and you can find it often but not low enough to do damage. I may just be lucky but it is my opinion that campgrounds do a pretty good job for the most part on their electrical. Seems State parks 30 amp receptacles are the worst. Mostly all burnt up and loose. Pogoil.Re: Towbar/tab failureI try to inspect both the vehicle and tow bar attachments many times a year. Re torque the bolts as well. You got lucky as the other one may have given way soon. Pogoil.Re: ElectIf the rate is .16KWH most likely will be way upwards of $100 dollars a month. Depends on many factors, such as which way your windshield faces, parked in full shade or full sun and if it is only down to 90 degrees can you be comfortable sleeping with the AC off??? If in full sun I would expect 150 plus. I know in those conditions my air would most likely run 20 hours a day. Pogoil.Re: Some fun We did this about 10 years ago on this forumOregon Coast anytime. Yosemite anytime. Florida Keys winter only. Pogoil.Re: WalmartI am one of the crazy ones. We stayed at a campground in Florida City, BBQ-ed Tri-Tip with the awning out and had a few beers and chatted with several other campers for an hour or so. Really did not need water or electric or sewer. We felt safe. We are not the parking lot pull down the shades recluse type. Next morning down to the Keys. Pogoil.Re: Advice on buying older dieselWe own a 1995 Beaver. In my opinion built as good as the Monaco. We have put 50,000 miles on it in 5-6 years. De lamination is most of the time only cosmetic if caught early. Ours has the original appliances except water heater and they still work great. The 8.3 Cummins is as solid as any Diesel built maybe better. We did have a hydraulic pump failure that cost plenty to fix. I now change my hydraulic fluid and filters on schedule. We tow a Jeep Wrangler 4 door jeep all over the west with no problems. We will not win the race to the top but never fail to make it. Personally I would have a hard time changing coaches because I feel the quality is no where near the same as late 80s early 90s were built. Pogoil.
