The wife is wanting a newer truck wheather it be diesel or gas. I want to hang onto the work horse that I have. Sure, it slows way down going up a grade. Am wondering what everyone else would do. :? I was worried when it came time to update from my 2000 F250 PSD with the 7.3L diesel.. especially after I found out that they are not putting the standard transmission in them. After driving and testing out this 2011 Ford F250 6.7L .. auto trans… I was hooked.. it pulls my big 40' Sundowner 3 horse trailer with full living quarters like there is nothing back there. That includes when I have it loaded with 3 horses, hay, feed, tack and camping gear. Diesel is so quiet you can stand right there at the engine and talk. It is awesome! I avg. anywhere from 18-24 on the I-state when traveling not hauling, between 14-20 when hauling, depending on the load, location and my speed. Avg. mpg just around home traveling back and forth to work and so forth… 16-20 mpg. I love it… Just don't take it to the Ford house for them to change the fuel filters without a $$ first! lolRe: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012 bigun73 wrote: Cauzin Chaos wrote: What brand was it?? and weight was??? I believe that what the add is saying is 6500 lbs. of "on the jack weight", i take that as being more to hitch weight not total weight of the trailer. How do you know what the hitch weight is?Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012What brand was it?? and weight was??? Just place under axles that are low, and use a small air compressor, and in about 3-5 minutes you have a perfectly level trailer. It also really helps on soft ground because its foot path is big. I was shocked, as we stayed in the mountains for about 2.5 months and the bag stayed level all the time. Ok, what is an air pillow? Where did you get it at??? This sounds like a terrific idea!! :)Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosI like that ramp... !!!Re: Your Rig TTBeachBum wrote: Sweet set up! Thanks! I love the 'all in one' kinda thing. Dh is still not comfortable hauling it.. says it is to big.. lol So, I tow it around big towns and mountains.. he tows it on i-state.. in good weather and daytime only. lol He is getting better with it.. will see how he does on this next trip out - 775+ miles one way.. I still need to do a lot of practice backing up!!! Heck.. I am thinking about letting him learn how to do the backing up .. you think that would work???? :BRe: Your RigAfter having to either pull another trailer behind the 5er to carry the polaris for 4 wheeling (piggy-backing) or another trailer for the horses to be able to go camping with the 5er.. we did this.. now we can do it all with one trailer! I love it. {can I still be in the 5ers category?} Loaded up and ready for a week camping and trail riding with the horses. Had a blast!! Running with the big boys.. lol
