Cheers! * Moderator edited picture sizeNorthern Lite - our first summer. We got 3 feet of snow this week - so I'm suffering cabin fever. We've completed our first summer in our Northern Lite and it has been AWESOME. We are absolutely loving it. I'd buy it again in a heart beat. Some photos from this summer of adventure: The pups think the camper is the best thing ever. We turn the dinette into a queen sized dog bed for them at night - works really well. I took the rig fly fishing quite a few times this summer: We took it to a BBQ festival in the mountains and did some kayaking We actually stayed in a campground and due to the great sound insulation - it wasn't bad at all - didn't hear a thing :) We criss-crossed the rockies countless times this summer. Thankful for the big diesel and the exhaust brake. I rarely have to touch the brakes "coming down the mountain". We've taken the rig to the Desert a bunch of times this spring and fall to go mountain biking: Circling the wagons with our usual group of idiots: ...even ran into a fellow Northern Lite owner from Canada out there and rode mountain bikes together for 3 days. We used it as a "Race HQ" for one of my wife's triathlons. It was so great for her to have "home" literally walking distance from the start/finish. Everyone standing in line for the porta-potties in the pouring rain before the race start was extremely jealous - LOL We even used it as an extra "spare room" and camped in the driveway when the in-laws came to visit (photo of my driveway :) ) As for mods - so far we've done very little - the thing is setup so well from the factory. I built an exo-skelleton for the ladder to hang bikes on so there's no stress on the ladder itself: ..and I installed a weboost to improve cell phone signal when needed: Future plans/mods: We are headed to camp on the beach for two weeks in December so I have ordered a Honda EU2200i to take with us in case the solar cannot keep up (and if it gets hot enough we need to run the AC). It will be here next week. I am going to remove the rear passenger seat in the truck and build a "dog platform" out of 80/20 with full length storage drawers underneath and a retracting loading/unloading ramp as our brown dog is getting older and has trouble getting in and out. I'm also beginning design work on the LifePo/ 400 watt solar / Simarine / Victron setup now. I hope to have it installed by next summer. Other than that - there is nothing to do. The setup meets all of our needs. Happy Winter Everyone! *twitch*Re: In$uranceHere's my experience (all from last week).. I'm going to post in detail in hope that someone else can benefit from what I went through. I'm 48. Wife and I have perfect driving records. We do bump our coverage up to higher amounts liability wise. We run $1000/$1000 deductible. I'm in Colorado - our rules are a bit different FWIW and a truck camper is NOT registered in Colorado. The camper: 2019 Northern Lite Limited Edition with some upgrades - insured value $53,500 All quotes: Replacement Value (not ACV) - $53,500 Travelers wanted to treat it as a tow behind. I had 3 vehicles already with them and they wanted $1169/year additional for the Truck Camper. hahahahahahaha! Safeco: Truck camper: $717.70 per year (if we move all vehicles to them). Nationwide: $1162.94 for just the camper Progressive: over $1000 more for the camper (they quoted everything but the premium was over $1000 more than what we pay for the current 3). National General: $768/year just for the camper. So then we called Geico.... We ended up moving ALL of our vehicles to Geico. The camper premium is $24/month (that is 5 years of replacement, years 5-8 - $53,500, after 8 years, ACV) ...and our premium went up overall like $18. (i.e. they saved us money on the other 3 vehicles). the ONLY downside to Geico is they do NOT offer windshield coverage in Colorado - so we'll have to eat that (and we break lots of windshields due to the **** rock trucks in this area). Hope this helps someone.Re: Photo Thread - Post a Photo of Your Truck Camper HerePicked a 2019 NL 10.2 LE up last week. Loving it! Re: How many Northern Lite owners do we have? (revision 2)Please add me to the list as well. Bought it last weekend and pick it up Tuesday. 2019 Northern Lite 10-2EXLEUDB. Truck is a 2015 F-350 platinum dually diesel. Location: 80403 in Colorado (Near Golden Gate Canyon State Park) Cheers, EdwardRe: Maxtrax MK2 the best? Should I get orange? PricesMy maxtrax are black. The color doesn't matter much but when you send them shooting under snow having a 6 foot ribbon lanyard makes them a heck of a lot easier to find..DAMHIK :) The "type of plastic" used in the maxtrax is supposed to be better than the knock offs... no idea if that is b.s. or not. If you spin your tires you'll melt the teeth off of any of them. They're supposed to be UV stable (I live at 8000ft - lots of UV up here). I did have a buddy snap a genuine maxtrax and they replaced it no questions asked. Re: what gas engine? 2020 F350: 6.2 Gas or 7.3 L Gas?I'm curious to what the new gas engine's MPG will be when loaded with a 10 speed transmission and a low RPM design. :popcorn:Re: 2019 F450 and tire pressure monitorFWIW: The new RAM 4500 and 5500's (just announced) DO have TPMS on all 6 tires.
