All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Residential refrigerator upgradeWe are semi permanent on a seasonal site w/ metered electricity. Switched our dometic dc/ propane for an apt sized residential unit. Tripleed the space inside and or bill during a/c cooling months has dropped from the mid $90 range into the low 30s. Keep better temps, we love it. I was a win / win for us based on operating efficiency and gained capacity. The saving this season alone more than paid for the swap out.Re: Keyless door lockWe have the RV Lock Brand. Absolutely love it!!!! Pros: easy to install very convenient, no more keys key fob works from a distance tone alert for lock / unlock back lit at night after touching buttons Cons: sometimes hangs up in below freezing weather (low bat and stick lube) fits a little loose, could solve with shim washers but not that bad. The batteries last us about a year , we camp 3-4 days / week from april to oct. One of the best accessory purchases I made for the rv. We moved it from our tow behind to the 5er and just swapped out door latches. Check directly at the company web site as they have periodic sales and usually throw in 2 key fobs. www.rvlock.comRe: Surge ProtectorI can tell you from personal experience the customer service at Progressive Industries is top notch. Had a minor issue with a 30 amp unit and they sent new parts out fast and gave advise on how to best install them.Re: Oversized Ice Cube MakerWhile it doesn't answer your container question, this stuff rocks! Lasts all weekend, I mostly use 2 liter bottles and cranberry juice bottles. Just label them as non potable! It is a powder you add to the water and freeze, makes a gel like those blue reusable ice packs, but lasts a lot longer. Available at on line retailers. https://koolergel.com/Re: Mice in the trailer - first time in 11 wintersFor clean up, I've had great results with Simple Green. Seems to soften the drag trails and urine while deodorizing at the same time. Since we sealed up the rig and used all the gimmicks , no more clean up necessary.Re: Insulation under the bedThe moisture/ mold under mattress issue is very common in boat cabins. To combat the we have lined the top the bed platform on our trailer with a product called Geomat. It is similar to heavy duty air conditioner filter media but more resistant to compaction. Picture a fiber mat about 3/4" thick. It allows air flow under the mattress.Re: Tankless water heater upgradeTo continue the off topic conversation; look into the Intex portable spa tub versions, there are 2 models. One heats the air bubbles, get that one. Had it outside for one summer, stored it for a year and it is now set up in the basement. love it! Now back to the topic, there are a few threads that cover adding an on demand propane tankless heater ahead of your standard 6 gal. We are looing into this option as our hot water difficulties are only when the outside temps are lower.Re: Coachmen Freedom Express 246RKSWe got a 2016 248RBS in June. LOVE IT!!!!!! Planted it on a seasonal site so I can't comment on towing. The outdoor kitchen is an awesome feature but wish the awning covered it. Many positives, roomy bathroom, great layout, plenty of storage, ducted air. Furnace and air are away from the sleeping area so it is quiet. I will list the down sides and minor issues we had just for you to be aware of. Tight walk around the bed , but we knew that when purchasing Minor leak in outdoor kitchen drain No indoor counter space (get a stove cover) CATV connections were all loose Needed to foam in all openings in the floor to keep rodents out ( I can help you with that next spring) some spots are not easily accessible. The shower head is mounted way to low (we are short under 5'5") so for a taller person this could be an issue. installed a mount up higher. There seems to be a drainage issue with the black tank, doesn't dump all the paper/ solids and clogs sometimes. May be a level issue as the rig is perfectly level . In the spring we plan to inspect the drain fitting with a camera. Got around it by using a mascerator when it fails to completely drain. Not trying to steer you away from this model as it has a lot a great features and a layout. I would purchase this model again and highly recommend it. Just making you aware of some minor issues we had. Great choice, enjoy it.Re: Champion 3100 watt Generator on sale"With inverter technology, not only it delivers clean electricity, but it also functions quietly. The advertised noise level is 58 dBA at 23 ft, not louder than a normal conversation. While it is not the quietest, it is still a sufficiently quiet generator." Comparable to the Reds or the Blues within a few decibels, I guess I am missing something in the ear plug comments? Owner of a 1200 watt version and it is about as quite as they come short of sitting in the dark.Re: FurnaceCheck carefully for a "mechanics switch" inside the unit it could have been accidentally bumped off while cleaning or trouble shooting. Happened to a unit we were working on last Sunday. Follow the 12v leads going into the furnace, it should be before the circuit board.
